The UP government has decided to introduce vocational education in around 1701 government schools and also helped secondary schools from 2026-27 academic sessions. According to this initiative, 3402 vocational trainers will be hired from outsourcing agencies, with each school will get two teachers. This decision has been taken to focus on job-oriented training for school students in their regular classrooms.
Starting the 2026-27 academic session, Uttar Pradesh will introduce vocational courses in 1701 government and aided schools, hiring 3402 trainers for job-oriented training in sectors like retail and IT, as part of the National Education Policy.
Vocational Courses to Begin in Government and Aided Schools
The government has made announcement that this programme will cover 731 government schools and 970 government helped schools in the state. Every school will offer two vocational courses and at least 25 students will enrol in each trade in class 9. The teachers cum trainers will take one hour class every day, while students will get target of completing 6 hours training in every week.
Focus on Industry-Relevant Skills
The students will be trained in the sectors like retail, information technology, tourism and hospitality, agriculture, and management, entrepreneurship and professional skills. THese courses will train students for entry-level jobs like office assistant, data entry operator, microfinance executive and retail store operations assistant. The intiative has taken under National Education Policy for skill based training.
Recruitment Process and Practical Exposure
The vocational teachers or trainer will receiver 15,000 rupees per month and the principal will make sure the attendance of the teachers before the payments will be given. The trainers will have to be graduate in the subject they are training also they can work in one school only. They also need NSQF certificate and one year of industry experience in the same sector.
The school will also be responsible to have three guest lectures in the school for every year and also arrange students visit in the industries. The Secondary Education Department will also give a separate budget for these programme and increase the stability practical learning and the to connect students with professional workplace.
