This comes after several bollywood actors and celebs came forth to support the students protest, and in the latest – actor, singer and lyricist Piyush Mishra has also voiced his support for the students protesting under the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) banner on Thursday (July 23).
Actor Piyush Mishra supported students protesting under the CJP banner on July 23, urging PM Modi to investigate violence during a Parliament march and stating that early dialogue at Jantar Mantar could have prevented injuries to students and police.
He expressed disappointment over the violence that broke out during the march to Parliament.
Sharing a video on Instagram – he had a message for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that the clashes were “deeply painful” and could have been avoided if the government had engaged with the students when they first began the protest at Jantar Mantar.
‘What Happened To The Students Was Very Wrong’
Beginning his video message – he appealed directly to the Prime Minister. Introducing himself, Piyush Mishra said, “Mr. Modi, my name is Piyush Mishra. What happened to the students was very wrong, and it was extremely painful,” he said. The actor said he stood firmly with the students and felt that the violence during the protest should never have happened.
Piyush Mishra said that in the clash several students and police personnel were injured. “There may have been political reasons behind what happened. There was a lathi-charge, police personnel were injured, students were injured. None of this should have happened,” he said.
He stressed that violence only worsened the situation and took attention away from the students’ original concerns.
‘Dialogue Should Have Started Earlier’
He added that the situation could have been handled better by starting dialogue discussions when the students first started the protest at Jantar Mantar.
He said early communication between the government and the protesters might have prevented the confrontation.
“If attention had been given to this issue earlier, things could have been different. If the government had come forward and started a dialogue when the students were sitting at Jantar Mantar, perhaps the situation would have been much better,” Mishra said.
He described the events as “very unfortunate” and said he was saddened by the way the protest unfolded.
Urges PM Modi To Order A Prompt Investigation
Piyush Mishra ended his message with an appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure that the matter is investigated without delay.
Calling it an issue that directly concerns students and their future, he urged the government to act quickly.
“This is about our children. Please order an immediate investigation into the matter,” he said.
