In last few hours, the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) has received heavy rainfall, leading to waterlogging and traffic jams. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for next few hours as it may continue to pour.
Moderate to heavy rain continued across Delhi and adjacent areas since yesterday. And now, the weather department has moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds for today and tomorrow as dark clouds have blanketed the sky.
Delhi-NCR received heavy rainfall leading to waterlogging and traffic jams, with Safdarjung recording 32.4 mm. The IMD issued a red alert and predicts moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms for Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad today and tomorrow.

According to IMD data, Delhi’s Safdarjung recorded 32.4 mm of cumulative rainfall till 8:30 am, followed by Ridge at 37.6 mm, Lodi Road at 36.7 mm, Ayanagar at 4.0 mm and Palam at 0.8 mm.
Traffic snarls
Heavy rain and strong winds resulted in slowing down Delhi as people from several areas reported heavy traffic jams. At NH 8 in Shankar Vihar area, traffic was hardly moving, while visuals from Prithviraj Road show people on two-wheelers stuck.

The IMD has advised commuters to check traffic conditions before leaving and avoid areas prone to waterlogging.
More rains predicted for Delhi-Noida
The weather department has predicted moderate to heavy rain all day at most of the places in NCR region including Noida and Ghaziabad. While another spell of rain may take place at evening or night.
