A dramatic vortex of flames was captured as the Widemouth 2 Fire ripped through Fishlake National Forest near Kanosh, Utah, scorching more than 4,000 acres. The lightning-caused wildfire produced a towering spinning column of fire and smoke, widely described as a “firenado”, as firefighters battled the rapidly spreading blaze. Authorities placed southern Kanosh under ‘Set’ evacuation status, urging residents to prepare for possible evacuation. Officials said the wildfire remained 0% contained as crews worked to establish containment lines, while clarifying that the fiery vortex is more accurately known as a fire whirl rather than a tornado.
