Tamil Nadu Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin today denied saying any objectionable words against actress Trisha Krishnan, saying that his speech was about farmers and the Cauvery issue.
Replying to reporters after two hours of questions at the Sengipatti police station in Thanjavur, Udhayanidhi accused the government of harrassing him and said he was treated like a terrorist.
Tamil Nadu Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin denied making objectionable remarks against actress Trisha Krishnan, stating his speech was fact-based and focused on farmers’ issues and the Cauvery water dispute, while accusing authorities of misinterpretation.
“Speech was all about farmers”
Denying the allegations levelled against him, Stalin said that his speech was fact-based and talked about farmers’ problems and the mismanagement by the state government.
“I was speaking with facts about what each minister was doing in the past three months. Instead we have a dummy chief minister, who is inefficient and ineffective,” he said.
The DMK leader accused the authorities of misinterpreting his speech.
“They have just copy-pasted some words that I did not say and added some more to it. I did not speak anything wrong about anyone. I spoke only about the farmers,” he said.
Asks for all-party meeting on water issue
Stalin said that his speech only urged the chief minister to hold an all-party meeting to discuss the issue affecting the farmers.
“I spoke only about what the farmers wanted. What all I said was that the chief minister should summon an all-party meeting to discuss the water issue,” he added.
‘Stop misinterpreting my speeches’
He also said that he would be willing to fight the case legally and defended his words.
“I am ready to face this legally. I will fight this case,” he said.
The DMK leader also said that all his party’s MLAs would meet the party’s leadership before the assembly meets.
“All our MLAs will meet our leader tomorrow before the assembly meeting,” he said.
