Bangladesh former cricketer and former Awami League MP Shakib Al Hasan’s ancestral home was attacked by petrol bomb just hours after he joined virtual press conference of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina from India. The attack has now raised a question about the security and political crisis spread in Bangladesh after 2024 political crisis.
Bangladesh cricketer Shakib Al Hasan’s ancestral home in Magura was attacked with a petrol bomb hours after he joined former PM Sheikh Hasina’s virtual press conference from India, raising security concerns amid the country’s political crisis.
Attack on Shakib Al Hasan’s Family Home
According to the reports, the incident took place around 8.45 PM local time in Keshabmor area of Magura town. After the petrol bomb attack, the house was also vandalised. However, no information about the injuries has been reported yet.
The incident took place just few hours after Sheikh Hasina addressed journalist through a virtual press conference organised by the Foreign Correspondents’ Club in New Delhi. Former cricket Shakib Al Hasan was also present at the event virtually.
Sheikh Hasina Reaffirms Plan to Return to Bangladesh
During the press conference, Sheikh Hasina confirmed that she will intent to return Bangladesh in December despite she is going to face legal and political actions against her.
“My return is not about power, it’s about putting Bangladesh back on track of development, secularism and prosperity,” she said.
She also accepted the danger she had on returning to Bangladesh after the way she had to exit from the country in August 2024.
“I know, they may put me in jail or kill me,” she said, adding, “I will go back home to be with my people. I have decided to go and I will go to Bangladesh.”
