Shive Sena leader Neelam Gorhe has demanded a fast-track trial in the shocking alleged sexual assault case of 16-years-old girl in Nagpur. She also questioned two-day police custody given to the accused was enough for detailed investigation in this serious case.

Following the alleged 30-hour sexual assault and injury of a 16-year-old girl in Nagpur by 19-year-old Nirmay Madhav Pakhare, Shiv Sena leader Neelam Gorhe is seeking a fast-track trial and questioning the adequacy of the accused’s two-day police custody. Gorhe also requested a police investigation into potential helpers and scrutiny of the accused’s past actions.

According to the police, 19-year-old Nirmay Madhav Pakhare allegedly held the teenager and tied up for 30 hours, sexually assaulted her and almost 20 knife injuries were found on the girl’s body. Later police rescued her from a rented room on Monday.

Neelam Gorhe made these remarks after meeting police officers at the Hudkeshwar Police station and also spoke to survivor’s family over the phone. She said that Police has worked immediately after the girl’s family approached them and she said she is statisfied with the investigation.

Gorhe expressed satisfaction with the police investigation, claiming that the cops acted swiftly after the girl’s family approached them to report her missing.

“However, police custody of only two days for investigation into the case was insufficient. The court should have extended it,” she said.

Shiv Sena Leader Seeks Probe Into Possible Helpers

Accused Pakhare, who was admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday night after complaining of chest pain, was sent to judicial custody after his police remand ended on Thursday.

Gorhe said that she will be meeting Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde, who heads the Shiv Sena, and Sunetra Pawar in connection with the case.

She also demanded that the case be tried in a fast-track court, expressing confidence that the CM would look into it.

The Sena leader said the involvement of more people in the case could not be ruled out and that the police must ascertain whether anyone had helped the accused, directly or indirectly.

“The police must track down all those who might have helped the accused in any way,” she said.

Police must also find out if the accused has committed similar acts in other districts of Maharashtra or other states, she said.

What Police Said About Nagpur Assault Case

The survivor had befriended the accused on Instagram.

Police said the accused allegedly confined her in a rented house in the city’s Dighori area for more than 30 hours, tied her limbs, and repeatedly sexually assaulted her.

Pakhare, who was arrested on the spot, also allegedly inflicted several knife injuries on her.

The Nagpur police have also seized sharp weapons, a laptop, and a large cache of contraceptives from the house of the accused in Thane district.

Gorhe Defends Shinde’s Meeting With PM Modi

Asked about Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray questioning Shinde’s recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gorhe said her party is a constituent of the BJP-led NDA and there is nothing wrong with a Maharashtra deputy chief minister meeting the PM for guidance.

“PM Modi has done so much for Maharashtra. It is better to seek guidance from Modi than from Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi. If someone wants to meet someone, they should do so openly rather than secretly,” she added.
