Former Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai, who is leading the ‘We The Leaders’ political movement, visited the Udupi Sri Krishna Matha on Wednesday.
The temple management warmly welcomed the IPS officer-turned-politician, who was once the Superintendent of Police of Udupi district before entering politics.
Former Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai visited Udupi Sri Krishna Matha, where he was honored. The IPS-officer-turned-politician, now leading the ‘We The Leaders’ movement, previously served as Udupi SP and recently questioned the BJP-led government’s delayed dialogue with protesting students.

In a video doing the rounds on social media, K Annamalai was seen having darshan of Lord Krishna through the Kanaka Navagraha Kindi. He was honoured with prasada and a portrait of Lord Krishna by the Mutt authorities.
Interestingly, this is his second visit to Udupi district since he left the BJP in June. He had earlier offered prayers at the Sri Mookambika Temple in Kollur.
After leaving the BJP, the former IPS officer founded the political organisation ‘We The Leaders’. At the time, the former BJP leader stated, “National parties don’t speak the language of Tamil Nadu. That is my genuine criticism of all parties, including BJP.”

Notably, he recently criticised the BJP during the Genz protests at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
In a post on X, Annamalai said, “Protest is a fundamental right in a democracy. The pertinent question, however, is this: why did the BJP-led Central Government take so long to initiate a dialogue with the protestors? Why was meaningful engagement delayed until the protest had escalated to a flashpoint? What kept you waiting?”
He urged the Centre to have a meaningful dialogue and uphold transparency with the protestors. He added, “The strength of any nation lies in the confidence its youth place in its institutions. If our students lose faith in the fairness and credibility of our education system, we are jeopardising the future of our nation.”
