A late night confrontation in Jaipur after a Regional Transport Office (RTO) team stopped a private Toyota Hilux and forced to use it for election duty. The family who were travelling in the vehicle objected the move and said that the officials doesn’t have any written order. However, the transport department said that the vehicle has been modified from its original form so the action will be taken over it according to the rules.

In Jaipur, an RTO team stopped a private Toyota Hilux late Saturday, citing rule violations due to modifications and intending it for election duty, sparking a two-hour dispute until police intervened and released the vehicle.

RTO Team Stops Hilux In Jaipur

The incident took place on late Saturday near Vishwakarma Road No. 7. According to the report, a team from RTO-II stopped the Hilux vehicle and tried to take it to RTO office in Vidyadhar Nagar.

The family has said that a transport inspector told them that 18 Hilux vehicles in Jaipur had been selected for election duty. The even asked the officials to sho them in written order in which under the vehicle was being taken.

According to the family, no written order was shown to them and they also asked the officials to not take the vehicle in the late night.

The family even claimed that they were even threatened about filing an FIR and arrest if they didn’t move out of the car. The dispute continued for almost two hours and even local crowd gathered there.

Police Reach Spot After Dispute

The family said the RTO team then started issuing a challan and taking the vehicle into the custody alleging that it had been changed from its original form that breaks the rules.

The situation become worsen till the police reached the spot. Later when police intervened, RTO team left and Hilux was released. Now a video of the incident is also getting viral on social media.

Transport Department Gives Its Side

Transport inspector Anil Baswal said that Hilux had been modified and the action was taken under the rules.

Baswal also said that officials had arranged an auto-rickshaw for the family after stopping the vehicle. However, the family created a scene there.

Why Private Vehicles Are Used For Elections

The private vehicles have been often used for elections to help transport election workers, police personnel and other election material. Election authorities can ask the vehicle owners to provide their vehicles for election work.

However, there is an strict rules when the vehicles can be taken for election duty. The written orders have to be provided to owners to inform when their vehicles are needed.
