Actress Bipasha Basu has brought to light a case pertaining to food safety following her revelation of finding tiny worms in a fresh bottle of Isopure protein powder.

Actress Bipasha Basu reported finding worms in Isopure protein powder via Instagram, tagging Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, known for addressing food adulteration concerns.
Bipasha posted a video of what looked like a tiny worm on her Instagram Stories tagging the Commissioner of Maharashtra FDA Tukaram Mundhe in it, seeking his intervention in the matter.
It is noteworthy that the post has come out during a time when Mundhe has been in the news for his tough measures towards food and drug adulteration in Maharashtra.
Bipasha Shows What She Claims Are Worms in Protein Powder
On Thursday, Bipasha made a video wherein she revealed an open package of Isopure protein shake. In the video, she said that she found some little worms in the product. She also pointed out what she called a worm on her finger.
“This Isopure is filled with little worms,” said Bipasha, as she was displaying the product. According to her, the issue wasn’t with just a single product but the whole package was “filled with” the little worms.
Then she tagged Tukaram Mundhe and requested his intervention.
Her post is asking the FDA commissioner to see to it that consumers don’t get any spoiled or adulterated products. The allegation has been made by Bipasha and would need to be independently verified by the relevant authorities.
Why Did Bipasha Tag Tukaram Mundhe?
Mundhe has recently become one of the more visible faces of Maharashtra’s food and drug enforcement machinery. His actions against alleged adulteration and unsafe food products have earned him considerable attention on social media, with some people comparing his approach to the fictional police character Singham.
His growing popularity has also led celebrities to directly tag him when they report alleged problems with food or consumer products.
Bipasha’s post is the latest example.
Shweta Tiwari Also Asked Mundhe to Step In
Bipasha isn’t the first celebrity who has approached Mundhe in connection with some issue with her food. This happened back in August, when actress Shweta Tiwari posted a video, where she said that she had received a cockroach with her order from Swiggy Instamart.
In this video, Tiwari claimed that her family had ordered a Red Bull on this platform, but got a cockroach in addition to it. She demonstrated the crawling of this insect, and directly called Mundhe, asking him to investigate this case.
Preity Zinta Shows Support for “Team Tukaram Mundhe”
Mundhe’s public image has gone beyond official government announcements.
Actor and entrepreneur Preity Zinta recently appeared in a T-shirt carrying the words “Team Tukaram Mundhe”, signalling her support for the FDA official’s work.
Other celebrities, including Twinkle Khanna and Daisy Shah, have also expressed support for him. This growing online attention has effectively turned Mundhe into a recognisable figure in conversations around food safety and adulteration in Maharashtra.
Bipasha Basu’s Recent Work and Personal Life
Moreover, the star has recently found herself in the limelight owing to matters unconnected with food safety issues. Bipasha starred in the cover of the digital magazine Elle, wherein she discussed her career, motherhood, and the courage to make decisions even when they warn her otherwise.
However, Bipasha has been reluctant to feature in any films in recent times. She last starred in a lead role in the horror movie “Alone” released in 2015, followed by a cameo appearance in “Welcome to New York,” and again appearing in the 2020 digital series Dangerous.
Bipasha tied the knot with actor Karan Singh Grover in 2016, and they got blessed with a daughter named Devi in 2022.
At present, she has not announced any new film.
