Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday was marked across Delhi with several programmes, including the lighting of thousands of diyas as part of the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ campaign. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta lit a diya at Kartavya Path and prayed for the Prime Minister’s good health and long life.
Delhi celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday with CM Rekha Gupta and ministers participating in the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ campaign, lighting 1.25 lakh diyas at Kartavya Path, and attending a 108-kund yagna in Alipur.
Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra, MP Bansuri Swaraj and NDMC vice-chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal were among those present at the event. Around 1.25 lakh diyas were lit at Kartavya Path, turning the area into a sea of lights.
Students Make Earthen Diyas
Delhi Education Minister and Janakpuri MLA Ashish Sood also took part in the campaign. He lit diyas with students and teachers at CM Shri School in Sarojini Nagar.
The students and teachers had prepared the earthen diyas themselves. They later offered prayers for Prime Minister Modi’s good health, long life and continued service to the country.
Sood also joined local residents in lighting an ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ on Pankha Road in the Janakpuri Assembly constituency.
CM Joins 108-Kund Yagna
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also participated in a 108-kund yagna held at Shri Khatu Shyam Delhi Dham in Alipur. She prayed for the Prime Minister’s health, longevity and continued service to the nation.
The Chief Minister said, “Prime Minister’s 25 years of public service journey is an inspiring story of dedication, determination and nation-building. He has always kept public service and service to the country above everything else.”
2,000 Diyas Lit At Tahirpur
At the leprosy complex in Tahirpur, Social Welfare Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh and MP Manoj Tiwari joined residents to light 2,000 diyas.
A floral rangoli carrying birthday wishes for Prime Minister Modi was also illuminated with diyas. The minister met people affected by leprosy living at the complex, heard about their needs and honoured them by presenting shawls.
Health Minister Pankaj Singh also participated in a diya-lighting programme in Vikaspuri.
Cycles Distributed To Workers
PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh distributed bicycles to workers, sanitation staff, security guards and members of the cobbler community at the Constitution Club of India.
He said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always given priority to the respect and dignity of workers. The role of hardworking people in the country’s progress is extremely important.”
