Jajpur Projects Add to Industrial Growth
Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries, Home and Information & Public Relations Departments of the Odisha government, said India Chem 2026 would provide an opportunity to engage directly with leading companies and present the state’s investment potential.
He highlighted Odisha’s industrial infrastructure, progressive policies and resource advantages as key factors in building a competitive ecosystem for chemical and petrochemical industries. He also said the proposed industrial park and focus on coal gasification could open new avenues for investment, value addition and employment generation.
Referring to the recent groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony in Jajpur, Sharma said nine projects in the sector—comprising five inaugurations and four groundbreaking ceremonies—represented investments of ₹4,136 crore and were expected to generate employment for 1,508 people. These projects, he said, would contribute to strengthening the state’s industrial ecosystem, expanding manufacturing capabilities and creating jobs.
Odisha Seeks to Strengthen Its Position as an Investment Destination
While states such as Maharashtra and Gujarat have established themselves as major chemical and petrochemical hubs over several decades, Odisha is looking to leverage its resource base, industrial infrastructure and policy framework to expand its presence in the sector.
The state’s participation at India Chem 2026 is expected to strengthen engagement with major industry players and generate further interest in its investment opportunities. The government aims to translate investor interest into projects on the ground, expand employment opportunities and accelerate industrial development.
Through its participation, Odisha will seek to position itself as a preferred destination for chemical and petrochemical investments, while creating new opportunities in manufacturing, downstream industries and sustainable economic growth.
