On the historic day for Reliance getting itself listed in the stock market, in the ceremony of the Jio platforms in Mumbai on Wednesday, Chairman Mukesh Ambani became emotional and could not control his emotions as his children spoke about the family’s journey, the legacy of their grandfather Dhirubhai Ambani and their plans for the company’s future.

At the Jio Platforms listing ceremony in Mumbai, Chairman Mukesh Ambani became emotional as his children spoke about the family legacy; the company debuted strongly on stock exchanges, with shares rising over 21% above its record IPO price.

Sitting alongside his wife, Nita Ambani, at the National Stock Exchange, Mukesh Ambani was seen wiping tears from his eyes as Akash, Isha and Anant Ambani addressed the gathering. Their speeches focused on the family’s values, the hard work behind Jio’s growth and the responsibility of carrying forward the vision of Reliance founder Dhirubhai Ambani.

The emotional moment came as Jio Platforms made a strong debut on the stock market. The company’s shares were listed at Rs 1,359 apiece on the BSE and NSE, around 21.36% above the initial public offering (IPO) price of Rs 1,119.

The listing marked a major milestone for Jio, which has grown into one of India’s largest digital and technology businesses over the past decade.

Anant Ambani Recalls Dhirubhai Ambani’s Journey

One of the most emotional moments was delivered by Anant Ambani when he talked about the journey of his grandfather, Dhirubhai Ambani, and the dreams which led to the formation of the Reliance Group.

Anant recalled the humble origins of the family and the principles which still guide their enterprises. While talking about all the blessings and support that Jio has been receiving from the Indian population, Mukesh Ambani was seen very touched.

“Jio ko pure desh ne duae di. Maa ne kaha, Jio mere laal. Dadi ne kaha, Jug jug Jio. Aur dosto ne kaha, Jio yaar,” Anant quoted.

This was an expression of the fact that Jio has become a part of the Indian people’s lives, and even its name is mentioned while giving blessings, greetings and in the act of friendship.

Anant also thanked Jio’s employees, engineers, technicians, service personnel and retail partners for all their contributions.

Akash Ambani Says Jio’s IPO Is Just The Beginning

Akash Ambani, chairman of Reliance Jio and managing director of Jio Platforms, said the stock market listing should be seen as the beginning of a new phase rather than the end of the company’s journey.

“Today’s listing is not a finish line, but a starting line,” Akash said.

He assured investors that Jio would focus on creating long-term value for shareholders. Drawing a comparison with Reliance Industries’ record over nearly five decades, he said Jio would aim to deliver similar value over the next 50 years.

Akash also recalled returning to India from abroad to work alongside his father on the vision of making digital services more accessible to Indians.

He said Jio began with an idea and a team that believed every Indian should have access to affordable, world-class technology.

The company’s expansion has helped increase access to mobile internet and digital services, allowing content creators to reach wider audiences and making a range of online services more accessible.

Jio Platforms Shares Make Strong Stock Market Debut

Listing of Jio Platforms witnessed huge investor interest as the stock opened at Rs 1,359 compared to the IPO price of Rs 1,119, going up to Rs 1,375 with a gain of around 23% from the issue price.

The company had a valuation of more than Rs 12.5 lakh crore, making it one of the most valuable firms in the country.

At the listing, the IPO valued at Rs 30,213 crore was referred to as India’s largest IPO based on the figures provided. The issue was 22.19 times oversubscribed.

The total application amount by way of public subscriptions and anchor investor subscriptions amounted to more than Rs 7.4 lakh crore. The listing witnessed close to 1.39 crore applications with the issue getting fully subscribed in 95 minutes based on the figures given at the listing ceremony.

This happened in the context of a tough time for the equity market.

Isha Ambani Pays Tribute To Dhirubhai’s Vision

In addition to Isha Ambani discussing Dhirubhai Ambani’s legacy and his conviction that common Indians must have an opportunity to be a part of India’s economic success,
Her speech conveyed the importance the Ambani family attaches to ensuring that business success serves a greater purpose for them than just being good for the business itself.

The presence of all three brothers and sisters on the stage also reflected their joint involvement in setting out Jio’s future. While Akash focused on the strategy and future profitability of the company for its shareholders, Isha and Anant spoke about the family values, the people behind Jio and the mission of providing digital connectivity to all.

Mukesh Ambani, who rarely draws attention to himself at the investors’ events, leaving room for the younger generation to shine, kept away from the limelight.
