The Amravati obscene video case has taken a serious and disturbing turn, with investigators uncovering a clear pattern in how the main accused allegedly targeted and exploited minor girls. As the probe progresses, police say the case may involve a larger and organised network.

The Amravati obscene video case investigation reveals prime accused Mohammed Ayaz Tanveer allegedly trapped minor girls via social media, secretly recorded explicit videos, and blackmailed victims, possibly as part of an organized network. Six arrests have been made, and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is continuing the probe.
The revelations have sparked outrage in parts of Maharashtra, raising concerns about online safety and exploitation.
How the Alleged ‘Love Trap’ Began
According to investigators, the prime accused, Mohammed Ayaz Tanveer (19), allegedly used social media platforms like WhatsApp and Snapchat to approach minor girls.
He would start with friendly conversations and gradually build trust. In many cases, he reportedly presented himself as a supportive friend or romantic partner.
Once the girls became emotionally involved, he allegedly convinced them to meet in person, setting the stage for further exploitation.
From Trust to Exploitation
Police say that after gaining the victims’ confidence, the accused allegedly engaged in physical relationships and secretly recorded explicit videos.
In many cases, these recordings were made without the victims’ knowledge, turning moments of trust into tools for control.
Investigators describe this as a calculated method used repeatedly to trap victims.
Blackmail and Repeated Abuse
After recording the videos, the accused allegedly used them to blackmail the victims.
He is accused of threatening to make the videos public on social media, forcing the girls into continued exploitation under fear and pressure.
Some victims were reportedly taken to cities like Mumbai and Pune, suggesting that the case could have links beyond Amravati.
Case Came to Light After Videos Went Viral
The case surfaced after obscene videos involving minor girls began circulating online, causing widespread anger in areas like Achalpur and Paratwada.
Following complaints, local leaders approached the police, leading to the registration of a case and subsequent arrests.
Police recovered several objectionable videos from the accused’s mobile phone. Forensic teams are now working to retrieve deleted data, which may reveal more victims and evidence.
Multiple Arrests and Expanding Probe
So far, six people have been arrested in connection with the case.
One of the accused is alleged to have circulated the videos on social media, increasing the scale of the crime.
Authorities suspect that the number of victims could be much higher, and investigations are ongoing to identify everyone involved.
Political Links Denied
There were claims about the accused having links with a political party based on social media posts.
However, party representatives have denied any connection, stating that he is neither a member nor an office-bearer.
SIT Formed to Investigate
Given the seriousness of the case, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed.
The team includes senior officers and is tasked with conducting a detailed investigation, identifying victims, and uncovering any larger network involved.
Police officials have said the probe is being carried out with urgency and sensitivity.
Action on Ground and Public Response
Authorities have also taken action against the accused’s property, demolishing parts of it over alleged encroachment.
The incident has triggered protests and shutdowns in parts of the region, with people demanding strict punishment for those involved.
The state government has taken note of the case and directed officials to ensure a thorough investigation.
Warning Against Sharing Videos
Police have issued a strict warning to the public against sharing or forwarding any of the viral videos.
They have said that doing so is a punishable offence and can further harm the victims.
