Power cuts across Bengaluru are often linked to seasonal factors such as pre-monsoon rains, infrastructure upgrades, or sudden technical faults. While outages are sometimes planned to minimise disruption, unexpected feeder trips and weather-related issues can still lead to repeated interruptions, especially in fast-growing residential areas. Authorities usually advise residents to report issues through official channels for quicker resolution, though delays can occur depending on the scale of the problem.
With pre-monsoon showers picking up, power disruptions tend to increase across the city. Sudden rainfall, strong winds, and moisture can impact electrical infrastructure, leading to feeder trips, voltage fluctuations, and precautionary shutdowns to prevent larger faults. Areas with rapid urban expansion, like HSR Layout, often face additional strain due to rising demand and ongoing infrastructure adjustments.
Frequent power outages in Bengaluru, particularly HSR Layout, are caused by technical faults like tripped feeders and pre-monsoon showers; BESCOM cited a tripped 66/11KV F5 feeder for a recent disruption, expecting restoration by 2 AM.

On Wednesday, parts of HSR Layout witnessed repeated power cuts, with residents reporting outages almost every hour. Several users took to social media to highlight the issue, pointing to prolonged disruptions in areas such as Sector 2, 24th Main Road and near Somasundarapalya Lake, where electricity supply was reportedly cut off since evening.
Responding to the complaints, Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bangalore Electricity Supply Company, BESCOM) confirmed that the outage was caused by a technical fault. The utility said the 66/11KV HSR MUSS F5 feeder had tripped, leading to the disruption. Officials added that power supply was expected to be restored around 2:00 AM and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused.
Residents flag repeated disruptions, lack of clarity
Despite the clarification, residents expressed frustration over recurring outages and limited real-time updates. Many said they had registered multiple complaints but received only standard responses without a clear restoration timeline. Others questioned how a city known as India’s technology hub continues to face such persistent electricity issues, even during light rain.
