Trinity Rodman, Mallory Swanson and Sophia Wilson returned to the U.S. training camp roster. The trio is known as Triple Espresso from the 2024 Olympics. The camp prepares for two June matches against Brazil in Brazil. The three last started together in the Paris Games gold medal match.

The USWNT has recalled Trinity Rodman, Mallory Swanson and Sophia Wilson to a training camp roster for two June matches against Brazil in Brazil. The forwards last played together in the Olympic gold medal match in Paris. Head coach Emma Hayes said the group must use every minute together as preparation continues.

U.S. coach Emma Hayes selected 26 players for the international window. Hayes will name 23 available players for each match. The United States plays Brazil on June 6 in Sao Paulo. The second match is June 9 in Fortaleza.

U.S. training camp roster and Triple Espresso return

Swanson joined the U.S. roster for the first time since October 2024. Swanson recently rejoined the Chicago Stars after time away. Swanson stepped back after the birth of Swanson’s daughter in November. Swanson is 28 and has 38 goals in 103 national team matches.

Swanson scored the only goal in the Paris gold medal match. The United States beat Brazil 1-0 in that final. Wilson returned to the national team in April after maternity leave last year. Wilson took leave after the birth of Wilson’s daughter. Wilson has 24 goals in 61 U.S. appearances.

“That front three havent been together since the Olympic gold medal match, thats a long time, and we cannot waste a single minute, U.S. coach Emma Hayes said. We absolutely have to put the very best players together with every opportunity that we have. But the circumstances are slightly different. We have Mal, who is coming back last, and yes, she is competing and contributing to Chicago, but like Soph last camp, it is so important to get them into the environment to reconnect with their teammates.\”

Brazil matches, travel learning, and Womens World Cup context

The matches offer rare away friendlies for the U.S. national team. Hayes said travel can help younger players learn routines. The games also preview conditions in Brazil ahead of next year’s Womens World Cup. Brazil is set to host that tournament.

\”This is another moment where we get to see how we cope with all of the environmental conditions that come with going to Brazil, whether thats adapting to different cultures, different training facilities, different hotels, different experiences, fan experience, feeling like the away team, but with the pressure cooker of a top opponent. All of these things really, really matter, Hayes said.\”

The United States aims to qualify for the Womens World Cup later this year. The qualifying push starts in late November at the CONCACAF W Championship. The Brazil tour will test planning and recovery away from home. It will also set standards before competitive matches return.

U.S. training camp roster list for Brazil matches

The camp list includes three goalkeepers, eight defenders, seven midfielders, and eight forwards. Clubs span the NWSL and European teams. The roster also includes several players from Gotham and OL Lyonnes. Hayes will still trim the matchday availability to 23 players per game.

Position Players
Goalkeepers Claudia Dickey (Seattle Reign), Mandy McGlynn (Utah Royals), Phallon Tullis-Joyce (Manchester United)
Defenders Tierna Davidson (Gotham), Emily Fox (Arsenal), Avery Patterson (Houston Dash), Lilly Reale (Gotham), Tara Rudd (Washington Spirit), Emily Sonnett (Gotham), Gisele Thompson (Angel City), Kennedy Wesley (San Diego Wave)
Midfielders Croix Bethune (Kansas City Current), Lindsey Heaps (OL Lyonnes), Claire Hutton (Bay FC), Riley Jackson (North Carolina Courage), Rose Lavelle (Gotham), Olivia Moultrie (Portland Thorns), Jaedyn Shaw (Gotham), Lily Yohannes (OL Lyonnes)
Forwards Michelle Cooper (Kansas City Current), Trinity Rodman (Washington Spirit), Emma Sears (Racing Louisville), Ally Sentnor (Kansas City Current), Mallory Swanson (Chicago Stars), Alyssa Thompson (Chelsea), Sophia Wilson (Portland Thorns)

With Rodman, Swanson and Wilson back in the same camp, Hayes has more top attacking options. The U.S. will use the June 6 and June 9 matches to test line-ups. The trip will also expose players to away conditions in Brazil. The full group then shifts focus to late November qualifying at the CONCACAF W Championship.
