Former Tamil Nadu BJP Chief K Annamalai has expressed that no one need to show their affection his religion publicly and the identity of nation should come first. Nation identity should come first even before the caste and religion. While speaking at Pollachi, he announced himself a proud Indian and Hindu when it comes to his views on social harmony and equality.

K. Annamalai, former TN BJP Chief, stated in Pollachi that national identity should precede religion and caste, defining a ‘true Hindu’ by their commitment to equality and mutual respect while keeping personal religious views private.
Annamalai Speaks at Anti-Drug Conference
Annamalai addressed the public and made these remarks at maiden anti-drug conference oprganised by his own foundation, We The Leaders’ in Pollachi. In his speech, he shared about the importance of harmony, and said that every individual is equal and asked to avoid divisions based on the caste and religion.
He said although is proud of his religion but it doesn’t mean to display it every opportunity. “There is no need to highlight and display religion every time,” he said.
‘I Lock Up My Caste and Religion at Home’
While showing his public life, Annamalai said that he always considers himself first as Indian and then he keeps his caste and religion at home. He says that it his personal matter that should stay at home. “I am a proud nationalist, a proud Indian and a Hindu. I lock up my caste and religion inside my house when I step out,” he added.
Defines What a ‘True Hindu’ Means
While addressing the public he also defines what actually he feels about a ‘True Hindu’. According to him, the meaning of ‘True Hindu’is someone who gives equality and mutual respect to others. “A true Hindu treats everyone equally. “He will say all must go together in a straight line,” he empahsized.
His conference was mainly focused on creating awareness for the drug abuse but Annamalai took a chance to share his political views as well. Since his separation from BJP, Annamalai has been trying to make his own presence through his political views. He is aiming towards to be the next competitor in line for TVK’s Vijay in upcoming 2031 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections.
