Bangladesh Former PM Sheikh Hasina’s son and former ICT adviser, Sajeeb Wazab joy addressed press conference before her mother and while addressing he stated that Bangladesh has has become “another Pakistan on India’s eastern front”.

Sajeeb Wazed Joy claims Bangladesh is becoming ‘another Pakistan on India’s eastern front,’ citing a sharp political and security decline post-August 2024. He alleges suppression of opponents and free operation of extremist groups like Hizb ut-Tahrir and Al-Qaeda, warning of potential global terrorism risks.
While addressing media virtually from India during an international media event, Joy accused Bangladesh’s current government of suppressing their oppositions which is weaking the democracy. He made comment at the time when Sheikh Hasina’s exile from Bangladesh in August 2024 has become a residing place India.
Joy Alleges Bangladesh Is Becoming a ‘Failed State’
While addressing the media, Joy stated that Bangladesh is a “failed state”, and there was no freedom of speech, no protection of human rights, no effective law and order and no functioning constitution in Bangladesh.
He also said that Bangladeshi intelligence agencies have directed the media organisations to not cover or report the press conference which itself says over media freedom in country.
‘Another Pakistan on India’s Eastern Front’
Joy made the strongest claim while describing Bangladesh had become “another Pakistan on India’s eastern front.”
According to him, hundreds of convicted militants arrested during her mother’s governance had been released from prison now. He also claimed that now Hizb ut-Tahrir and Al-Qaeda members are operating in Bangladesh openly.
Joy also said that this doesn’t just become a security challenge for India but also for international community. He also claimed that in future Bangladesh can also become a future state of global terrorism if the current situation continued.
