Days after the NTA released the NEET UG 2026 result, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on July 18 (Saturday) has declared the result of Class X Second Board Examination, 2026.

On July 18, CBSE released the Class 10 Second Board Exam 2026 results, noting a 96.78% overall pass rate. Introduced under NEP 2020, the exam saw 59.95% of students improve their marks, with results available on the DigiLocker portal.

Students can access their results through DigiLocker Results Portal at the URL: http://results.digilocker.gov.in

One must know that the second Board examination was introduced in 2026 this year as a part of the National Education Policy 2020, that allows the students a second opportunity to improve their marks without waiting for the next academic year.

Second Board Exam Introduced Under NEP 2020

The pattern of conducting two board exams was implemented by CBSE this year for Class 10. The main examination was held from February 17 to March 11, 2026, while the second Board exam took place from May 15 to May 21, 2026.

More Than 6.6 Lakh Students Registered

According to the data released by CBSE, 6,64,027 students registered for the second board examination, while 6,63,777 students appeared.

Among them, 5,13,955 students took the examination to improve their marks. Out of these, 3,08,095 students, or 59.95%, managed to improve their performance compared to the main examination.

Compartment Results Show Improvement

This new policy gave the compartment students another chance to pass. According to the CBSE, a total of 1,49,822 students appeared in the compartment category and 78,503 students successfully cleared the examination. This translates to a 52.40% pass percentage in the compartment category.

The result marks an improvement over last year, when the compartment pass percentage stood at 48.68%.

  • Total candidates registered: 6,64,027
  • Total candidates appeared: 6,63,777
  • Students who appeared for improvement: 5,13,955
  • Students who improved their marks: 3,08,095 (59.95%)
  • Compartment candidates appeared: 1,49,822
  • Compartment candidates passed: 78,503 (52.40%)
  • Overall Class 10 pass percentage (Main + Second Board): 96.78%

Students can access their results through the DigiLocker Results Portal using their login credentials. The board has advised students to download and keep a copy of their digital marksheet for future reference.
