At least eight people killed and 10 were injured after a private bus overturned and fell into a lower road in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district. The driver and conductor also died in the incident that took place on Saturday morning. The incident took place in the remote Churah Valley, where mountains make the driving challenging.

Eight people died and 10 were injured when a private bus overturned onto a lower road in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district on Saturday morning; an investigation into the accident is underway.
Bus Falls From Bairagarh-Tissa Road
The accident happened near Chalunj Mor in Devikothi area when the bus was travelling from Bairagarh to Chamba in bus operated by Sharma Bus Service. According to police the bus started his journey around 6.30 AM and crashed just after three kilometres.
There were almost 18 people on board in the bus, the bus overturned and plunged onto a road below. It trapped some passengers beneath the wreckage. Locals immediately rushed to help the passengers after heard cries for help and also informed the police.
Rescue Teams Pull Out Trapped Passengers
A large rescue operation was launched with Disaster Response Force, Police, Home Guards, Fire Services and the Revenue Department personnel. The rescue team personnel removed the passengers from the damaged vehicle and took injured passengers to the hospital.
According to police, Ten people got injured in the accident occurring serious injuries and have been admitted to Pt Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College and Hospital in Chamba for further treatment. However, the identities of 8 people who died have not been disclosed yet.

Investigation Underway Into Chamba Bus Crash
The Chamba District Disaster Management Authority has already started investigation and confirmed that eight people died and 10 were injured in the accident. The Authority is now investigating the cause of the accident which made bus leave the road.
The Bairagarh-Tissa raod is a rough 27-kilometre mountain road with Churah Valley. The stretch is designed with narrow roads, steep slopes and it is very important route for travellers who are heading towards high-altitude Sach pass.
