Several areas in Tamil Nadu capital will be hit by a power supply on Friday, August 14. Parts of Tiruvottiyur will witness an outage for five-hours, according to The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO).
Over 25 locations will be affected due to the routine maintenance works. The electricity department has planned to cut the supply between 9 am and 2 pm. Here are the affected places:
Routine maintenance by TANGEDCO will cause a five-hour power supply disruption on Friday, August 14, affecting parts of Tiruvottiyur and over 25 other Chennai locations between 9 am and 2 pm.

However, the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation has assured that the supply will resume early if the maintenance works are completed before the scheduled time.
Meanwhile, over 50 locations were affected on Thursday due to power cut. KK Nagar, Palavakkam and Pallavaram were hit by a supply.
After the Vijay-led TVK government came to power, Chennai witnessed several protests over prolonged power cuts. A sustained spell of above-normal temperatures also pushed Tamil Nadu’s electricity demand to record levels during the summer.
In July, Tamil Nadu recorded an all-time high peak power demand of 21,724 MW on July 14, according to official data cited by DT Next. Daily energy consumption also hit a record 475.447 million units (MU) on July 17.
The state’s monthly electricity consumption rose 11.5% year-on-year to 13,807 MU in July, compared with 12,382 MU in July last year.
