Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin released the DMK’s ‘Chennai Super-6’ manifesto, promising improved urban infrastructure, 1,000 new mini-buses with AI transport management, better stray animal care, and a technology innovation hub for Chennai ahead of the Assembly elections.

The announcement comes just days before voting for the 234 Assembly seats in the state, scheduled for April 23. The manifesto was unveiled at the party headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, in Chennai.

Focus on Urban Development and Better Infrastructure

The ‘Chennai Super-6’ manifesto highlights key plans to improve urban infrastructure and make the city more modern and efficient.

The DMK has promised:

  • Better civic amenities across Chennai
  • Development of major road projects
  • Installation of avenue trees and world-class road facilities

The aim is to improve the overall quality of life for residents while enhancing the city’s infrastructure.

Boost to Public Transport

One of the main highlights of the manifesto is the focus on improving public transport.
The party has promised to introduce 1,000 new mini-buses across the city. Along with this, AI-enabled transport management systems will be used to reduce traffic congestion and improve travel time.

This move is expected to make daily commuting easier and more efficient for citizens.

Steps to Tackle Stray Dog Issue

Addressing a common urban concern, the DMK has also included plans to manage the stray dog population.

The manifesto promises to triple the number of veterinary doctors and field staff, aiming to improve animal care and reduce issues related to stray animals in the city.

Push for Technology and Innovation

The ‘Chennai Super-6’ plan also focuses on making Chennai a hub for future technologies.
The party has proposed setting up a special centre for AI, animation, visual effects, gaming, and immersive technologies. A global talent gateway is also planned to attract skilled professionals and boost the city’s position in the tech sector.

Political Context

The manifesto comes at a crucial time as Tamil Nadu prepares for Assembly elections. With a strong focus on Chennai, the DMK aims to highlight its development agenda and connect with urban voters.

The ‘Chennai Super-6’ manifesto reflects a mix of infrastructure development, technology advancement, and public welfare. As elections approach, it remains to be seen how these promises influence voters in the capital city.
