Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said during the ongoing Monsoon Session of the Delhi Assembly that ensuring every eligible woman receives the benefits of welfare schemes is the government’s top priority. She said both Central and Delhi government programmes are being implemented to support women’s financial security, welfare and empowerment.

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta emphasized ensuring eligible women access welfare schemes, including Central programs like Ujjwala Yojana and Delhi initiatives like Vidya Vahini, to promote financial security and empowerment.

Rekha Gupta Lists Women-Centric Government Schemes

Gupta highlighted several Central government initiatives aimed at improving opportunities and financial support for women. These include the Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Lakhpati Didi, Drone Didi and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

She said the Delhi government was also working through initiatives such as the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, Pink Card, Anmol Yojana, free LPG cylinders for eligible women and the Vidya Vahini scheme.

The focus, she said, is to ensure that eligible beneficiaries do not miss out because of gaps in access or implementation.

Vidya Vahini Scheme Focuses On Girls’ Education

The Chief Minister particularly pointed to the Vidya Vahini scheme, under which bicycles are provided to female students. The programme is intended to encourage girls to continue their education and help reduce school dropout rates.

The wider Delhi government system already has several programmes aimed at women and girls. The Women and Child Development Department, for instance, implements schemes including Ladli, widow pension and assistance related to girls and vulnerable families.

Government Says Welfare Promises Will Be Fulfilled

Gupta also linked the welfare initiatives to her government’s broader commitment to fulfilling promises made to the public. She said measures announced during its tenure were being taken forward in a time-bound manner.

The issue is significant because access to welfare schemes depends not only on announcing programmes but also on ensuring eligible beneficiaries can actually receive the promised support.
