Actress Shilpa Shetty has issued a clarification after a post on reservation attributed to her went viral on social media.
The message read: “Don’t touch reservation. Let general category doctors treat only general category patients and let everyone else treat only patients from their own caste. Do this for a few years and people will start asking to end caste based reservation themselves. You can’t get skill through reservation.”
Actress Shilpa Shetty denied making a viral social media post about reservation, calling the attributed statement fake, fabricated, and malicious, with fact-checkers suggesting AI tools created it. She is currently hosting the ZEE5 reality cooking series ‘Maa Hai Na’.
However, the actress, who made her acting debut with Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster Baazigar, has called it a “fake news” and did not make the above comments.
In her social media post, the 51-year-old said, I am shocked to see fake statements on reservation falsely attached to my name. This is completely fabricated, malicious garbage.” She asked the netizens not “not fall for this fake news”.
The viral post, according to fact checkers, is created using AI tools.
Shilpa Shetty is currently busy a show called Maa Hai Na. It is a reality cooking series premiered on ZEE5. It is hosted by Shilpa Shetty and produced by Preeti Simoes and Neeti Simoes.
Celebrity contestants compete in pairs, each pairing a public figure with a parent or adult child, in cooking challenges and comedy segments.
The actress was recently seen in Kannada movie KD: The Devil. The movie starring Dhruva Sarja and Sanjay Dutt failed to set the box office on fire.
