Strong earthquake tremors were felt across several parts of Himachal Pradesh on Friday night after an earthquake struck near Dharamshala at around 10:04 PM.

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude between 4.3 and 4.8 struck near Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh on Friday night around 10:04 PM, causing panic and evacuations but no major reported damage or casualties.
Preliminary seismic data indicated a magnitude of 4.8, with the epicentre located about 55 kilometres east of Chamba, while other early estimates placed the quake at 4.3 magnitude near Dharamshala.
The sudden tremors caused panic among residents, prompting many to rush out of their homes and buildings as a precaution. Himachal Pradesh falls within a high seismic risk zone, making earthquakes a persistent concern for the region.
Memories of the devastating 1905 Kangra earthquake, one of the deadliest seismic disasters in India’s history, continue to underscore the state’s vulnerability to such events.
As of now, no major casualties or significant property damage have been reported, though authorities have urged people to remain alert and follow safety guidelines.
