A fire broke out at Gaur Biz Park in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, late on Wednesday night. However, the cause of the blaze remains unknown, and no injuries have been reported, according to PTI.

Fire brigade teams reached the commercial complex quickly and started operations. Officials said parts of the blaze appeared concentrated on the fourth floor, but early efforts to cool that level were not very effective.

A fire at Ghaziabad’s Gaur Biz Park on Wednesday night was controlled within an hour with no injuries reported, renewing concerns over fire safety following a previous major blaze in May that exposed access and equipment gaps.

Ghaziabad Fire Safety Issues In Indirapuram

Speaking to PTI, CFO Ghaziabad, Rahul Pal, said, ” As soon as we received information, two of our vehicles were sent to Gaur Business Park. Continuous pumping operations were carried out as the fire had spread through the elevation area, where wooden structures, cables, and the AC system were installed. The fire was spreading rapidly, and the entire building was filled with smoke. Since the offices were closed and locked, it was not possible to enter from inside.

One team entered the building by breaking the rear wall and cutting the locks, while three other teams continuously laid three to four hose lines from the front and climbed onto the fire tenders to begin extinguishing the fire. Within approximately one hour, the fire was brought under control. Ladders were also placed on the elevation side, and teams entered from there to completely extinguish the blaze. There has been no loss of life or any injuries in the incident.”

Ghaziabad fire highlights repeated safety concerns

The latest incident at Gaur Biz Park comes weeks after another major Ghaziabad fire in the same Indirapuram area. Earlier in May, Gaur Green Avenue society saw a high-rise blaze that damaged several homes. Flats worth an estimated Rs 3-5 crore were gutted, according to residents and officials familiar with the case.

That Gaur Green Avenue fire started in a four-bedroom flat on the ninth floor of Tower D. The unit is registered to Kamal Paliwal, who, reports said, does not stay there and had allegedly kept the flat under renovation for five years. Residents claimed an oil lamp was lit in the flat regularly, and this could have triggered the Ghaziabad fire.

Ghaziabad fire exposes access and equipment gaps

CFO Rahul Pal said the earlier Gaur Green Avenue blaze spread with unusual speed between floors. Fire first erupted on the ninth floor and then travelled up to the 13th floor. Pal stated that PVC sheet awnings fitted on balconies across multiple levels allowed flames to move upwards quickly in that Ghaziabad fire.

Fire teams at Gaur Green Avenue also faced severe problems accessing the affected tower, Pal added. According to Pal, internal roads inside the society were blocked by parked vehicles and other encroachments. Fire engines and rescue cranes could not immediately reach the building because the pathway was too narrow. Personnel had to remove several cars first, and even after that, a boundary wall near a park inside the complex restricted movement and slowed the Ghaziabad fire response.

Ghaziabad fire prompts action against societies

Following the May incident, the Fire department issued notices to at least 150 residential societies and commercial buildings in Ghaziabad. The list included projects developed by Gaur, Amrapali and Supertech. Officials accused these complexes of violating fire safety rules and sought corrective measures to reduce the risk of another Ghaziabad fire.

The fresh blaze at Gaur Biz Park has renewed questions over how well those earlier directions were followed. Fire tenders again responded fast but initially lacked equipment to tackle higher floors. Investigations are underway to find what sparked the Gaur Biz Park incident and whether safety systems functioned properly during the Ghaziabad fire.
