Gunshots were reported outside Educator Khan Sir’s coaching centre near Musallahpur Haat in Patna on Tuesday evening, leaving a security guard injured and admitted to hospital. Senior officials, including Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya K. Sharma and the SP, reached the spot with several police teams as the incident sparked concern over safety in the busy coaching hub.

SSP Kartikeya K. Sharma stated that the case involves both physical assault and gunfire, and investigators are treating it as a serious attack. According to Sharma, the injured guard’s testimony is expected to play a crucial role in the inquiry, while officers are also recording statements from other witnesses who were present near the coaching institute when the shots were fired.
Sharma said that police teams are examining all leads and will act strictly against anyone found linked to the firing, regardless of position or background. Officials are reviewing available CCTV recordings, physical evidence and local accounts so they can piece together the sequence of events, identify those involved and decide the legal sections that will apply in the Patna case.
Khan Sir Patna coaching institute rivalry angle and security concerns
Khan Sir, whose coaching centre draws large batches of students due to its relatively low fee structure, suggested that rivalry in the local coaching market could be behind the incident. Speaking to the media, Khan Sir claimed some competing institutes appeared upset with the performance of his centre and the number of students enrolling there compared to other Patna coaching institutes.
The educator argued that offering quality teaching at prices that many lower-income students can afford has disturbed certain groups. Khan Sir said that attackers not only fired outside the premises but also damaged parts of the office, describing the vandalism as brazen. According to Khan Sir, CCTV footage from the coaching institute capturing the attack has already been handed over to law enforcement agencies for examination.

Patna police probe and suspect claims by Khan Sir coaching institute
Khan Sir further stated that the injured security guard named some suspected attackers during initial conversations after the firing. According to Khan Sir, these individuals were linked to another nearby coaching institute, and he suggested that there might be competition-driven hostility between operators who are trying to attract the same pool of aspirants in Patna’s Musallahpur Haat locality.
He also alleged that this was not the first time threats had been issued towards his coaching centre, claiming that warnings and intimidation had occurred earlier as well. Khan Sir appealed to the administration to provide stronger security measures around educational spaces, saying that support should go beyond basic arrangements so that such Patna coaching institute clashes do not endanger students or staff.

Khan Sir Patna coaching institute statement on low fees and poor students
While addressing reporters after the firing episode, Khan Sir linked the hostility to the fee model followed at his Patna coaching institute. The educator argued that certain competitors disliked the fact that his centre offers comparatively cheaper courses while still delivering strong exam results for large numbers of students drawn from different parts of Bihar and outside.

After making this statement, Khan Sir stressed that many of the enrolled students come from economically weaker backgrounds and depend on low-cost teaching to stay in the competition.
