On July 25, 2026, the 2026 (2nd) Himalayan Rim Film Exhibition completed its final campus screening at Sathaye College, University of Mumbai, officially concluding this year’s edition. Held across universities in Nepal and India, the exhibition brought together film screenings, expert lectures, director Q&A sessions and cultural experience activities to create a platform for youth cultural exchange, further promoting cooperation among universities in the region.
As a distinguished guest of the exhibition, Chinese filmmaker Xu Haofeng, director of The Master, participated in post-screening discussions at Pokhara University in Nepal and the Department of Management Sciences (PUMBA), Savitribai Phule Pune University in India, sharing his creative philosophy on kung fu cinema and Eastern aesthetics with local students and faculty.

As the final host institution of the tour, Sathaye College held a two-day programme from July 24 to 25, further strengthening exchanges among young people from China, India and Nepal. The event was attended by organisers, local education representatives and Indian film professional Abhinav Mehrotra.
Dr. Madhav R. Rajwade, Principal of Sathaye College, and Nishith Shah, Dean of the India China Academy, delivered opening remarks expressing their expectations for continued China–India youth cooperation through film.
Professor Li Daoxin of Peking University, serving as a special adviser to the exhibition, delivered a keynote lecture titled “China-India Film Cooperation: Current Status, Opportunities and Future Outlook,” followed by an interactive discussion with students and faculty members.
On July 24, the Chinese animated feature I Am What I Am 2 was screened on campus. Before the screening, co-producer Li Yilin introduced the film’s application of motion capture, visual effects and digital production technologies, explaining how new technologies support the contemporary expression of traditional Chinese culture.
On the morning of July 25, students participated in a traditional Chinese knot-making workshop, learning about the symbolism and craftsmanship of Chinese culture through hands-on activities. Film directors Qiu Sheng and Wan Bo also delivered talks on AI-assisted filmmaking and image education in the age of artificial intelligence, discussing new opportunities for future film creation with students.
The closing film of the exhibition was The Legend of the Condor Heroes: The Gallants. Before the screening, Professor Fan Zhizhong, Dean of the International Film Development Institute of Zhejiang University, joined online to discuss Chinese wuxia cinema, Eastern aesthetics and youth film education with teachers and students.
Throughout the exhibition, audiences experienced four Chinese films: Blades of the Guardians: Wind Rises in the Desert, The Master, I Am What I Am 2, and The Legend of the Condor Heroes: The Gallants. Through film screenings, academic dialogue and cultural activities, participants gained a deeper understanding of Chinese cinema, digital filmmaking and traditional culture while strengthening exchanges among young people from China, India and Nepal.
With the successful conclusion of the India Station, the 2026 (2nd) Himalayan Rim Film Exhibition completed all scheduled activities. Covering universities in China, Nepal and India, the programme used cinema as a bridge to promote youth cultural exchange, film education cooperation and regional collaboration, laying a solid foundation for future people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
