A six-year-old boy died after collapsing in his Visakhapatnam private school classroom on Thursday, reportedly after a teacher allegedly slapped him for not doing homework. Police and education officials await a post-mortem report while investigating the incident.

According to officials, the child had reportedly been slapped by his teacher after he failed to complete his homework.

Boy Collapses After Teacher Allegedly Slaps Him

The reported case was reported to happen inside the classroom of a private school in Visakhapatnam.

According to the CCTV footage captured inside the classroom and has gone viral in social media, the child is shown standing in a line while carrying his slate. The child was visibly afraid and crying while pleading the teacher not to beat him.

It is further reported that the teacher pulled the child towards himself and slapped him on the face. Almost immediately after that, the child fainted and collapsed on the teacher.
Other teachers were reported to have rushed inside the classroom and attempted to give first aid and perform CPR.

The school authorities have taken the child to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Officials Await Post-Mortem Report

According to Visakhapatnam RDO Sadhu Dileep Chakravarthy, the child might have experienced a cardiac arrest after the episode. However, the reason for his/her death can only be known after the results of the postmortem examination are out.

The body of the child has been taken to King George Hospital (KGH) to conduct a post-mortem examination.

RDO stated that the administration will carry out an inquiry into this incident.
The police station of One Town has started investigating the matter.

The district education department is looking into the circumstances of the death of the child.

Family Blames Teacher And School Management

The child’s parents have blamed the teacher as well as the school management for this tragic incident and demanded appropriate action be taken.

The boy’s father stated that the family had gone on a pilgrimage trip recently and they returned home just on Wednesday, and due to which his son did not complete his homework.

He wondered how could a teacher hit a kid from the UKG class.

The mother of the child accused the school authorities of not informing them about the happening right away. She said that the school authorities took their son to the hospital without even notifying them.

The family is demanding appropriate action against the guilty persons.

School Yet To Respond

The school management has not publicly commented on the allegations so far.
Meanwhile, investigators are examining the CCTV footage and other available evidence to establish the sequence of events inside the classroom.

The post-mortem report is also expected to provide important information about the precise cause of the child’s death. The police and education authorities will determine further action based on the findings of their respective inquiries.
