A 31-year-old MSc student died by suicide on Saturday morning after falling from the sixth floor of an IIT Delhi building; no suicide note was found. In a separate incident, a 19-year-old BSc Nursing student died by suicide in a Rajinder Nagar hostel, with investigations ongoing for both.

A team from the Kishangarh police station reached the campus soon after the call. The student was taken to the IIT Delhi campus hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Student Entered IIT Delhi Campus Around 8 AM

As per the police, the student had come into the IIT Delhi campus through the main gate at about 8 am and then proceeded to the lecture hall building, using the elevator to go up to the sixth floor.

He reportedly committed suicide by jumping off the building from its front side. The exact reasons behind his act are under investigation.
After the event, the crime and FSL teams arrived on the spot.

No Suicide Note Found At The Spot

Police said no suicide note was recovered from the scene. A mobile phone was found in the student’s pocket and has been taken for examination as part of the investigation.
Preliminary examination did not reveal any injury marks on the body apart from those believed to have been caused by the fall.

Investigators are also obtaining the student’s counselling records and other relevant information from the IIT Delhi administration. Police are examining these details to understand the circumstances surrounding his death.
The investigation is currently underway, and further action will be taken based on the findings.

19-Year-Old Nursing Student Found Dead In Hostel

In a separate incident in Delhi, a 19-year-old third-year BSc Nursing student allegedly died by suicide at a hostel in the Rajinder Nagar area.

According to police, the student was from Najafgarh and was pursuing nursing studies at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Fellow students reportedly found her in her hostel room on Friday and took her to the hospital. The hospital later informed the Rajinder Nagar Police Station about the incident.

A police team reached the hostel, while a crime scene investigation team was called to examine the location and gather evidence.

Hospital Says It Is Cooperating With Probe

Sir Ganga Ram Hospital said it was deeply shocked and concerned by the incident and confirmed that the matter was under investigation.

The hospital authorities said they were cooperating with the investigating agencies and examining the relevant facts surrounding the student’s death.

Police are continuing their enquiry into both incidents. The circumstances and possible reasons behind the deaths are yet to be established.
