One Indian worker was killed and three others were injured after Ukraine launched one of its biggest drone attacks on Russia overnight, targeting multiple locations in and around Moscow. The Indian Embassy in Russia confirmed the casualty and said officials had visited the injured workers in hospital following the strike.
Overnight drone attacks by Ukraine targeting Moscow resulted in the death of one Indian worker and injuries to three others, confirmed by the Indian Embassy, among broader strikes causing multiple casualties across Russia.
Indian Embassy Confirms Death Of Worker In Moscow Region
The Indian Embassy shared details of the incident through a social media post, stating that one Indian national had lost his life in the drone attack while three others were injured in the Moscow region.
“One Indian worker has lost his life and three others have been injured in a drone attack in Moscow region earlier today. Embassy officials have visited the location and met the injured workers in the hospital,” the Indian Embassy said on social media.
“The Embassy condoles the loss of life and is working with the company management and local authorities to provide necessary assistance to the workers,” the post added.
The identities of the deceased worker and the injured individuals have not yet been made public.
Ukraine Launches One Of Largest Drone Assaults On Russia
The attack was described as one of the biggest drone offensives carried out by Ukraine since the war began. According to local authorities, at least four people were killed and around a dozen others were injured in the strikes across Russian territory.
Three deaths were reported in and around Moscow, while another person was killed in Russia’s Belgorod region near the Ukrainian border.
In Khimki, located northwest of Moscow, a woman reportedly died after a drone struck her home. Two other men were killed in the village of Pogorelki, situated around 10 kilometres north of the Russian capital.
The strikes also caused damage to infrastructure facilities and several residential high-rise buildings. Drone debris reportedly fell near Russia’s largest airport during the overnight assault.
Zelensky Calls Drone Strikes “Entirely Justified”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the attacks and defended the operation, saying the strikes were a response to Russia’s continued military actions against Ukraine.
“Our responses to Russia’s prolongation of the war and attacks on our cities and communities are entirely justified. This time, Ukrainian long-distance sanctions have reached the Moscow region, and we are clearly telling the Russians: their state must end its war,” Zelenskyy said.
He further claimed that the drones had travelled more than 500 kilometres from Ukrainian territory and said Ukraine was successfully overcoming Russian air defence systems deployed around Moscow.
Drone Warfare Intensifies Amid Ongoing Conflict
The latest assault comes amid a growing escalation in drone warfare between Russia and Ukraine. Moscow has repeatedly launched attacks on Kyiv and several Ukrainian cities in recent weeks, while Ukraine has increasingly targeted locations deep inside Russian territory.
Despite ongoing diplomatic discussions aimed at ending the conflict, both sides have continued to intensify military operations, especially through long-range drone strikes targeting infrastructure and strategic regions.
