Apple has officially unveiled its latest premium smartphones, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, with India included among the first markets to receive the new models.
Apple has launched the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max in India, featuring a 48MP Fusion camera with adjustable aperture, the A20 Pro chip, improved battery life, and photo authentication. Prices start at ₹1,64,900 for the Pro and ₹1,79,900 for the Pro Max, with sales beginning September 18.
The new Pro lineup brings major changes to the camera system, processor, thermal management and battery performance. Apple has also introduced new camera controls and an image-authentication feature aimed at helping users identify whether a photograph is an original or has been digitally altered.
In India, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at ₹1,79,900.

iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max Price and Availability in India
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will be offered in four storage configurations: 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB.
The starting prices in India are:
- iPhone 18 Pro: ₹1,64,900
- iPhone 18 Pro Max: ₹1,79,900
Apple has announced four colour options for the Pro models: Burgundy, Glacier, Silver and Black. Pre-orders in India will open on September 12, while the phones will go on sale from September 18.

48MP Fusion Main Camera Gets a Major Upgrade
One of the most significant upgrades seen in the iPhone 18 Pro line is the introduction of the 48MP Fusion Main camera.
The camera comes with an adjustable aperture, which is a new feature for the iPhone range by Apple. It enables users to have better control over the amount of light that goes into the camera and how much of the background stays in focus.
The users can choose to adjust the aperture manually for more creative freedom or let the camera decide what would be the best option according to the lighting and depth of field needs.

New Pro Controls Come to the Camera App
Apple is also adding Pro Controls directly to the Camera app.
The controls allow users to adjust important photography settings, including:
- Shutter speed
- Aperture
- White balance
- Exposure
A live histogram is also available, giving photographers more information about the brightness and exposure of an image while taking the photograph.
Apple says its updated computational photography system can produce sharper images by combining the new camera hardware with improved image processing.
Apple Reference Image Aims to Verify Photo Authenticity
A noteworthy inclusion is Apple Reference Image.
Apple’s new feature generates a verified reference image based on data from the camera sensor signed with a digital signature.
The purpose of the feature is to help users differentiate between a real photograph and an edited one. In a world where AI-generated and highly-edited images are becoming more prevalent, the feature can be quite handy. It allows users to verify a photograph based on information beyond the visual aspect of the picture.
A20 Pro Chip Brings 2nm Technology
Powering both Pro models is Apple’s new A20 Pro chip, built using 2-nanometre technology. Apple claims the new processor offers 50% more memory bandwidth than the A19 Pro. It also features a 7-core GPU and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine designed to handle demanding artificial intelligence workloads.
The focus on AI processing is significant as Apple continues to integrate more AI-powered functions into its devices.

The company has revamped the Dynamic Island on its new Pro devices.

iPhone 18 Pro Max Promises Longer Battery Life
Battery performance is another major area of improvement.
Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro Max delivers the biggest battery-life improvement ever seen on an iPhone.
According to the company’s claims, eSIM-only versions can provide up to 45 hours of video playback, while the iPhone 18 Pro can offer up to 36 hours.
Actual battery life will naturally depend on factors such as network usage, screen brightness, apps and other settings.
Faster Charging
Charging speeds have also received an upgrade.
Under supported conditions, Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro models can reach 50% charge in around 15 minutes using wired charging.
For users who frequently need to top up their phones during the day, the faster charging could be one of the more practical improvements over previous generations.

At a starting price of ₹1,64,900, the iPhone 18 Pro remains firmly in the premium smartphone segment in India. The Pro Max starts even higher at ₹1,79,900.
