Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership on Tuesday. The talks covered regional developments and US-linked peace efforts. Masoud Pezeshkian held separate meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir. The visit took place as Iran and the US pursued a roadmap for a final deal.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Field Marshal Asim Munir in Pakistan to review regional developments and peace initiatives involving the United States. Talks followed US-Iran discussions in Switzerland and a stated 60-day roadmap, with regional security and diplomacy central to the agenda.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the US-Iran peace deal could reshape the region. Speaking beside Masoud Pezeshkian after delegation-level talks, Prime Minister Sharif said the agreement “would bring a new era in the region\”. Prime Minister Sharif also said Pakistan acted as a mediator in the process. The two leaders addressed questions on the negotiations and regional security.

US-Iran peace deal and Islamabad MoU details

The visit followed recent US-Iran talks in Switzerland. The two sides agreed on a roadmap to finalise a deal within 60 days. High-level discussions at the Lake Lucerne Summit ran on Sunday and Monday. The talks used the framework of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding MoU. The US and Iran signed the Islamabad MoU on Thursday.

Prime Minister Sharif said the Islamabad MoU ended a war that risked spreading wider. Prime Minister Sharif praised the Iranian public for \”unity and dignity\” during the crisis. Prime Minister Sharif described relief that the conflict had ended. Prime Minister Sharif also credited Masoud Pezeshkian and colleagues for leadership. Prime Minister Sharif said Pakistan mediated \”as an honest and sincere\” party.

Prime Minister Sharif referred to the technical meetings in Switzerland. Prime Minister Sharif said, \”God-willing, this arrangement will usher in a new era of peace, stability and prosperity for this entire region.\” Prime Minister Sharif also thanked Iran for trusting Pakistan to start talks. Prime Minister Sharif said, \”We have done it with full honesty of purpose and sincerity.\”

US-Iran peace deal talks and missile question

Asked about Iran’s nuclear and missile technology, Prime Minister Sharif said Iran’s missile programme was not discussed. Prime Minister Sharif said Iran’s ballistic missile programme was outside the US-Iran agenda. Prime Minister Sharif added, \”It is not possible that others have missiles and Iran does not have them,\”. Prime Minister Sharif also announced a planned visit to Iran next month.

Prime Minister Sharif said the Iran trip would be to attend the funeral of assassinated Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Prime Minister Sharif also asked Masoud Pezeshkian to pass greetings to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei. Prime Minister Sharif credited Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei for leadership behind the MoU. Prime Minister Sharif linked the MoU to a ceasefire \”with dignity and honour\”.

Pakistan-Iran relations during US-Iran peace deal talks

Masoud Pezeshkian said Pakistan-Iran ties rested on trust and mutual respect. Masoud Pezeshkian said recent events gave the relationship a new direction. Masoud Pezeshkian said peace was possible through dialogue and respect. Masoud Pezeshkian also called for new regional security arrangements. Masoud Pezeshkian said, \”We are here to appreciate the role of Pakistan and the support of the people of Pakistan since the start of the war,\”.

Masoud Pezeshkian added, \”If it were not the effort of Pakistan, we would not be here.\” The Prime Minister’s Office said senior officials attended the meeting. Field Marshal Asim Munir and Ishaq Dar were present. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also joined. The meeting focused on peace efforts and wider regional issues.

In a separate meeting, Masoud Pezeshkian praised Pakistan’s role in the Iran-US dialogue. President Zardari welcomed Masoud Pezeshkian on the first state visit after the conflict. President Zardari said the trip reflected longstanding brotherly ties. The Presidents Office said both leaders discussed peace, security, connectivity, and economic cooperation. President Zardari reaffirmed support for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Pakistan-Iran relations and Army meeting linked to US-Iran peace deal

During the meeting with Field Marshal Munir, Masoud Pezeshkian praised Pakistan’s role in dialogue and de-escalation. The army said Masoud Pezeshkian noted Pakistan’s efforts amid geopolitical challenges. Field Marshal Munir repeated Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability. Both sides agreed to strengthen Pakistan-Iran relations. The army said they would keep close consultations on shared issues.

Earlier, Masoud Pezeshkian landed at Nur Khan airbase. President Zardari and Prime Minister Sharif received Masoud Pezeshkian with other officials. Pakistan’s JF-17 Thunder jets escorted the aircraft after it entered airspace. Security stayed tight in Islamabad during the visit. Authorities closed bus terminals to limit movement into the capital.

US-Iran peace deal commitments and Pezeshkian X post

Before leaving Tehran, Masoud Pezeshkian said the trip aimed at full implementation under international law. Press TV quoted Masoud Pezeshkian as saying the agreement could strengthen West Asia stability. On X, Masoud Pezeshkian warned about compliance. Masoud Pezeshkian wrote, \”Progress on this path will be measured by practical adherence to accepted responsibilities.\” Masoud Pezeshkian added, \”Statements outside the agreed text do not help advance the negotiations,\”.

Pakistan officials framed the meetings as part of a wider push for regional calm. Leaders discussed the Islamabad MoU timeline and steps taken in Switzerland. The Pakistani side described the mediation as sincere and focused on stability. Iranian statements stressed dialogue and security arrangements. The visit ended with both sides restating interest in stronger coordination on peace and cooperation.
