There have been speculations about the health condition of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, since several reports indicate that he has been admitted to the hospital and is in a very critical condition.
Speculation surrounds Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei’s health, with reports of hospitalization and critical condition possibly linked to injuries from February 28 strikes; President Pezeshkian noted difficulties in direct interaction.
Some of these reports further suggest that the news about his death might emerge anytime soon.
Nevertheless, there is no official confirmation made on part of Iran about any such report on the health status of Mojtaba Khamenei.
Rumours Say Khamenei Has Been Hospitalised
As per IranWire, citing sources within the presidential office of the Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, rumours are circulating in the Iranian elite circles regarding the extremely critical condition of Mojtaba Khamenei.
According to one of the unnamed sources cited by the source, he would not be surprised if soon the news about the death of Khamenei becomes public.
No Public Appearance Since Becoming Supreme Leader
Mojtaba Khamenei assumed the position of Supreme Leader after the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed in joint US-Israeli military strikes on February 28.
Since taking over the country’s top leadership, Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared in public. Instead, all official communication attributed to him has been issued through written statements. His prolonged absence has fuelled speculation about his health and ability to lead the country.
Reports Link His Absence to Earlier Injuries
Several international and opposition media reports have claimed that Mojtaba Khamenei suffered injuries during the military strikes that targeted his father’s compound.
Some reports have alleged that the injuries were severe enough to force him into hiding, with communication reportedly taking place through intermediaries rather than direct meetings.
President Pezeshkian Acknowledged Limited Access
Speculation increased further after President Masoud Pezeshkian said during a state television interview that direct interaction with Mojtaba Khamenei had become “very difficult.”
Although he did not explain the reason behind the statement, it prompted renewed questions about the Supreme Leader’s health and whereabouts.
Earlier reports by Saudi media outlet Al-Hadath, citing an Israeli security source, had also claimed that Khamenei was no longer in Iran.
US President Donald Trump had separately alleged in a television interview that Iran’s top military leadership had been severely weakened and claimed Khamenei had been incapacitated during the conflict.
Iranian officials have consistently downplayed reports suggesting that Mojtaba Khamenei suffered serious injuries.
