Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal has clarified that no influencer received his new health-tracking device, Temple, for free. He said everyone who received the beta version of the device had paid for it. Goyal also explained why he does not want to use paid promotions to market Temple.

Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal clarified that all beta users paid for the ₹85,000 Temple health device, which monitors brain blood flow and entropy, refuting claims of free influencer copies and stating the company avoids paid promotions.
The device has attracted attention since its launch. Its website crashed shortly after pre-orders opened on 1 November due to heavy traffic. Temple is priced at ₹85,000.
Deepinder Goyal Explains Why Temple Has No Paid Promotions
The Temple website clearly states that the company does not pay anyone to wear or promote its device.
One social media user recently highlighted this marketing strategy in a post on X. He called it an unusual decision and questioned why the company was staying away from brand ambassadors and professional partnerships.
Responding to his post, Goyal said there was no disagreement behind the decision. He wants people to judge the product based on its performance rather than its marketing.
He also pointed out that some leading wearable brands spend huge amounts on advertising.
“Some of the current flagship wearables with $1b revenue spend over $750m in marketing. That’s not where we want to be,” Goyal said.
No kerfuffle. Straight up. In the long term, I really want to know whether it is the product thats working, not the marketing. Some of the current flagship wearables with b revenue spend over 0m in marketing. Thats not where we want to be. It stays on with medical grade adhesive (we call them Grips). It stays through all conditions – sweat, shower, a swim in the ocean, and even under glasses. Battery lasts for around 5-7 days in one go, and you replace the adhesive when you recharge.

Deepinder Goyal Says Everyone Paid For Beta Device
Another X user, Amit Kilhor, asked whether some influencers had received Temple before its official launch and whether they were part of paid promotions.
Replying to the question, Goyal made it clear that nobody received the device for free.
“Everybody paid to get a beta,” he replied.
@amitkilhor Everybody paid to get a beta.

Indian athletes PV Sindhu and Shubman Gill have also been spotted wearing the beta version of Temple.
What Is Deepinder Goyal’s Temple Device?
Temple is a wearable health-tracking device designed to monitor brain blood flow and entropy. It is worn near the temple and aims to help users understand how their bodies respond to physical and mental stress.
According to its website, entropy measures “how hard your body is working to shed heat”.
Pre-orders for the Rs 85,000 device opened on 1 November, with deliveries expected to begin in three months.
