US President Donald Trump has issued a fresh and sharply worded threat to Iran as tensions in the Strait of Hormuz escalated further, with Tehran continuing its blockade of the key shipping route in response to the US naval blockade of Iranian ports. The latest remarks come ahead of another round of talks between American and Iranian officials in Pakistan on Sunday.

US President Trump threatened “massive strikes” on Iran’s infrastructure if a proposed deal is rejected, amid heightened tensions caused by Iran’s continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz in response to a US blockade, ahead of upcoming talks in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Trump Warns Of Massive Strikes If Iran Rejects Deal

In a new post on Truth Social, Trump said there would be “no more Mr Nice Guy” if Iran refused what he described as a “very fair and reasonable deal”, while also threatening sweeping attacks on Iranian infrastructure.

“Iran decided to fire bullets yesterday in the Strait of Hormuz – A Total Violation of our Ceasefire Agreement! Many of them were aimed at a French Ship, and a Freighter from the United Kingdom. That wasn’t nice, was it? My Representatives are going to Islamabad, Pakistan – They will be there tomorrow evening, for Negotiations,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

He then claimed that Iran’s own actions were effectively reinforcing Washington’s pressure campaign in the region.

“Iran recently announced that they were closing the Strait, which is strange, because our BLOCKADE has already closed it. They’re helping us without knowing, and they are the ones that lose with the closed passage, $500 Million Dollars a day! The United States loses nothing. In fact, many Ships are headed, right now, to the U.S., Texas, Louisiana, and Alaska, to load up, compliments of the IRGC, always wanting to be ‘the tough guy!'”

‘No More Mr Nice Guy’: Trump Escalates Tone

Trump’s most aggressive comments came as he warned of direct military action if Tehran refused to accept the proposed terms being discussed.

“We’re offering a very fair and reasonable DEAL, and I hope they take it because, if they don’t, the United States is going to knock out every single Power Plant, and every single Bridge, in Iran. NO MORE MR. NICE GUY! They’ll come down fast, they’ll come down easy and, if they don’t take the DEAL, it will be my Honor to do what has to be done, which should have been done to Iran, by other Presidents, for the last 47 years. IT’S TIME FOR THE IRAN KILLING MACHINE TO END!” Trump said in a long post on the platform owned by him.

The remarks mark another dramatic escalation in rhetoric at a time when diplomatic efforts remain fragile and the conflict-linked disruption in the Gulf shows no sign of easing.

Strait Of Hormuz Stays Shut As Iran Holds Firm

The Strait of Hormuz remained closed on Saturday, with Iran refusing to reopen the critical maritime chokepoint until the United States lifts its blockade of Iranian ports. The closure continues to disrupt one of the world’s most strategically vital shipping lanes, intensifying concerns over global energy supplies and regional stability.

Even as talks continue, Iran has signalled that any immediate breakthrough remains unlikely. Mediation efforts followed high-level negotiations in Pakistan, but those discussions failed to produce a final agreement.

Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf indicated that while there had been some movement, major sticking points still remain between the two sides.

Iran Says Peace Deal Still ‘Far’ Despite Some Progress

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaker of the Iranian parliament and one of Tehran’s negotiators in the talks aimed at ending the war launched by Israel and the US against the Islamic republic, said there had been some progress in discussions with Washington but stressed that a final settlement was still distant.

“There had been “progress” with Washington “but there are many gaps and some fundamental points remain”.”

“We are still far from the final discussion,” said Ghalibaf in a televised address on Saturday night.

With US and Iranian officials set to meet again in Islamabad on Sunday evening, the next round of talks is expected to be closely watched for any sign of de-escalation. But for now, Trump’s latest threat and Iran’s continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz suggest the crisis remains far from resolved.
