Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s new movie Jana Nayagan has come out with flying colours at the global box office while doing a record collection in his home territory Tamil Nadu.
The early estimates coming from trade trackers claim that the newly-released Tamil flick has earned around Rs 80 crore at the worldwide box office. In Tamil Nadu alone, it has made in the range of Rs 26-30 crore. The film has done exceptionally well in Karnataka where the ticket prices in Bengaluru were sold as high as Rs 2600 on day 1.
Vijay’s film Jana Nayagan garnered approximately ₹80 crore globally, with ₹30 crore from Tamil Nadu and ₹30 crore from overseas markets. The movie, co-starring Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol, received mixed reviews following its release.

The Vijay-starrer has collected around Rs 12 crore in Karnataka. It is followed by Kerala where it has raked in over Rs 5 crore. It has collected around Rs 4 crore in Andhra-Telangana while earning Rs 2.15 crore from rest of the country.
As far as the overseas market is concerned, Jana Nayagan has earned close to Rs 30 crore.
According to a report in Sacnilk, over 4 lakh tickets were sold for the opening day on Book My Show app and website.
Jana Nayagan, which has opened to fairly positive reviews, has opened to mixed reviews from the critics and audience. The film was originally scheduled for release on January 9 before the censor-related issues pushed the release at the last minute.
H Vinoth-directorial is inspired by Telugu movie Bhagavanth Kesari. Pooja Hegde plays the female lead in the flick which has Bobby Deol in the role of villain. Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani and others are part of the cast.
The movie is high on entertainment. The film works due to the charismatic Vijay, the one-man entertainment troupe. He is simply outstanding whether he is dancing, fighting or in emotional scenes. Anirudh’s music is another major asset.
