Jharkhand Higher and Technical Education Minister and senior Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Sudivya Kumar Sonu died of cardiac arrest at the age of 56 on the late Saturday night. Sudivya Kumar Sonu who was two time MLA from Giridha faced discomfort at his residence before he was taken to a private hospital. There he died during the treatment.
Jharkhand Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu, a senior JMM leader, passed away from cardiac arrest late Saturday night at 56. He held key ministries including Higher and Technical Education under Hemant Soren.
His sudden demise has given a shockwave within JMM party and Jharkhand government. Sudviya was one of the important member of Hemant Soren’s Jharkhand government and held major ministry besides Higher and Technical Education, including Urban Development, Tourism, Arts and Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs.
JMM Mourns Sudivya Kumar Sonu’s Sudden Demise
The JMM expressed grief over the sudden demise of its senior leader and said, “The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha family is stunned and heart-broken by the untimely demise of Sudivya Kumar, a dedicated comrade of JMM and a Minister in Jharkhand government.”

JMM Pays Tribute To Senior Leader
The party added, “His departure is an irreplaceable loss for the party, the government, and Jharkhand. His struggles, service, and contributions will always be remembered. May God grant peace to the departed soul and provide strength to the bereaved family and all comrades in this difficult time,” it added.
Deepak Birua Remembers Fellow Minister
JMM leader and state transport minister Deepak Birua also expressed shock and grief and said in an X post, “I am deeply saddened by the passing of my colleague and fellow minister in the Jharkhand government, Sudivya Sonu ji. His health suddenly deteriorated last night, and he passed away while undergoing treatment at the hospital. May God grant peace to his soul and give his family the strength to bear this grief. This is a huge loss for the JMM family. A tearful final ‘Johar’, brother.”
