TMC MP Mahua Moitra backed the July 20 Jantar Mantar protesters, affirming that courageous youth can drive change and demand government accountability through peaceful, leaderless action, without relying on political leadership.

Monday (July 20) was full of chaos with several protesters were beaten, kicked, thrown, injured and blood boiling videos captured showcasing the brutality of the system.

However, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra has hailed the protesters at Jantar Mantar and the youths for showing out in huge numbers.

Posting a video on social media- Mahua Moitra strongly backed the students saying the movement has shown that change can be brought through peaceful public action rather than political leadership. She claimed the events of the day proved that the country’s youth could demand accountability from the government through non-violent protests.

‘You Don’t Need Leaders,’ Says Mahua Moitra

She started the video with a famous dialogue – “Kitna aadmi the?” She said that this is what Amit Shah must be asking the Delhi Police Commissioner. And she said that you showed it all.

“You don’t need leaders. You can bring the government to its knees, seek accountability and get the Education Minister to resign simply through non-violent street protests. Their brutality will be their end,” she said.

Moitra congratulated those who gathered at Jantar Mantar, calling it a historic day for the protest movement.

Praises Protesters for Standing Their Ground

Mahua applauded the protesters who remained at the site despite the police action. She gave a “big shout-out” to those who, according to her, endured lathi charges and tear gas while continuing the demonstration.

She also referred to protesters allegedly telling police, “Maro, maro, hum aapke hi bacche hain” (“Beat us, we are your own children”), saying their courage had inspired many across the country.

Alleges Police Excesses During the Protest

She also thanked the people at the protest site capturing the visuals showcasing the brutality of the police that paved no way to present fake narratives by the “Godi media”. She said that there were several videos where the police personnel were seen picking up stones and throwing at the protesters and the abusive audios of the police saying, “maaro maad*****do ko.”

‘This Was a Leaderless Movement’

One of the key point that Moitra pointed out was the message the the protest of Monday showcased- as it was not led by Sonam Wangchuk, Abhijeet Dipke or any political leader but it was a self driven protest that was a spontaneous expression of public anger demanding accountability from the government over alleged irregularities in the education system.

According to Moitra, the movement should continue until those responsible are held accountable and the Education Minister resigns.

Calls on Youth to Continue Peaceful Protests

She in her ending note urged that young people not to lose momentum.
She said political parties alone cannot achieve such change and argued that students and youth have the power to keep the issue alive through peaceful protests.
“You have non-violence on your side. You have truth on your side. Sooner or later, this government will have to listen to you,” she said.

She claimed that the government believes that it can get away with Hardeep Puri (Epstein Files), or Dharmendra Pradha but that’s not true.
