The crisis of TMC is not going to slow down soon, there was not 2 days when senior leader Madan Maitra resigned from the party, now new development is coming as actress-turned-politician and Rajya Sabha MP Koel Mallick has resigned from Rajya Sabha. Her resign came in the time when TMC is continuously facing back to back exits from its party.

TMC Rajya Sabha MP Koel Mallick resigned from the Upper House, submitting her resignation to Chairman CP Radhakrishnan amid recent party exits following the 2026 elections.
Koel Mallick Steps Down From Rajya Sabha
Rukmini Mallick knows as Koel Mallick has already submitted her resign to Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice PResident CP Radhakrishnan. In her resignation, she announced that she is stepping down from membership of Rajya Sabha with immediate effect.
“I do hereby resign from the membership of Rajya Sabha, which may please be accepted with immediate effect,” the letter reads.
This become shocking as she was nominated for Rajya Sabha in April 2026 itself, few days before West Bengal Assembly Elections. Her nomination got much attention due to her popularity in Bengali films and her family lineage. She is the daughter of popular veteran actor Ranjit Mallick.
TMC Faces Growing Internal Rebellion
TMC has not come out of shock of Madan Mitra resignation that the party got another shock in Koel Mallick. Interestingly, Madan Mitra joined rebel TMC group led by Ritabrata Banerjee and after joining the rebel camp, Madan Mitra said that he had only changed his room in the Assembly.
He also gave his reason for the resignation and said, “… I had suggested to Abhishek Banerjee that he step aside for six months or a year. I told him, let us build the party, and then you can come back and take your seat but he refused. He said, I won’t leave the party. The party is sinking; the boat has gone under. People are dying. Yet, the party decided or rather it was forced to accept that everyone else could die, but Abhishek had to be saved. It is deeply saddening.”
More Leaders Leave The Party
TMC is facing exits day by day after the heavy defeat in 2026 Assembly Elections. First, three Rajya Sabha MPs, Sushmita Dev, Prakash Chik Baraik and Sukhendu Sekhar Ray resigned from TMC to join BJP.
