A new financial dispute has emerged in the line of investigation in Lucknow double murder-suicide case. Noticeably, SBI employee Manas Vajpayee allegedly shot his estranged wife Divya Mishra outside ICICI bank, killed his sister and then died by suicide. Now police is investigating one angle that come to light that Rs 1 Crore alimony was demanded from Divya’s side for the divorce.

In a Lucknow double murder-suicide, SBI employee Manas Vajpayee allegedly shot estranged wife Divya Mishra outside an ICICI bank, killed his sister Shiva Vajpayee, and then died by suicide amid a Rs 1 crore alimony dispute related to their divorce proceedings.
Divorce Dispute Under Police Scanner
Manas and Divya were married for 12 years but living separately for more than a year. Divya had filed a divorce case last year. An According to Police sources, documents linked to divorce proceedings have come out and police is now investigating the matter.
The divorce hearing held two days before the murder. According to the police, during the hearing alimony issue came up. Now Police is investigating did the 1 crore Rs alimony issue intensified the dispute.
Wife Shot Outside ICICI Bank
On Thursday noon, Manas allegedly called Divya outside her workplace ICICI bank branch in Gmoti Nagar. After having a conversation for few minutes, he allegedly shot her. She was later taken to hospital where she was declared brought dead.
Police said after killing Divya, Manas returned to his residence where he shot his 28-years-old sister Shiva Vajpayee, who was reportedly dealing with mental heath issues. Then he reportedly took his own life. Now police is reconstructing the sequences through CCTV footage, digital evidence and other material.
Before his death, Manas had posted a WhatsApp status claiming responsibility and accusing his wife of cheating: “Today I killed my wife who cheated on me. Now I have to kill myself and my sister… her sister Pragya and Bharat know everything.” Police are examining the post as part of the investigation.
Even Divya’s sister Pragya Mishra, who is YouTuber also alleged that Manas was abusive and he use to allegedly harass Divya. She posted: “I knew the murderer used to be cruel to my sister. That’s why she wanted to be separated from him. If a tomato ordered from Blinkit turned out to be bad, he would beat her over it.”
However, the police is still investigating the matter and none of the allegations have been proved.
