However, a political gathering held in Patna, Bihar, has become very heated, when the President of the Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, lashed out at a person in the audience during the speech he was giving to commemorate the 139th birthday of the former Chief Minister of Bihar Dr. Shri Krishna Singh.

In Patna, Bihar, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge controversially responded to a heckler during a speech honoring Dr. Shri Krishna Singh, later demanding the return of ballot papers and condemning the electoral roll revision (SIR), accusing BJP/RSS of division and election manipulation.

The controversy happened when a person heckled Kharge’s speech and said that PM Narendra Modi is not going to go anywhere. Kharge, in reply, said “Modi ka baap bhi jayega” (even Modi’s father will go). A video of the heated exchange has been released.
There are reports stating that the Congress workers beat up the heckler and took him out of the auditorium.

Mallikarjun Kharge’s Exchange With Audience Member

It was at that time when Kharge was addressing the crowd in Patna that the man is said to have uttered the phrase, “Modi will not go.” This resulted in the Congress leader responding in anger to the man, saying something about the father of the Prime Minister.

The incident caused a stir among the crowd, which also became controversial because of the reports that the Congress workers allegedly assaulted the man.

This incident happened during a celebration of Shri Krishna Singh, who is widely known as Sri Babu and who once worked as the first chief minister of Bihar.

Kharge Calls Opposition To SIR A ‘Second War Of Independence’

Apart from the exchange, Kharge used his address to criticise the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demand major changes to the election process.

He called for the immediate suspension of the ongoing SIR exercise and demanded that ballot papers be brought back for all future elections. He also sought the annulment of Assembly elections held over the previous two years.

Describing the opposition to SIR as a “second war of independence”, Kharge urged people to raise their voices in defence of their voting rights and the Constitution.

The Congress president alleged that the revision process could lead to the deletion of names belonging to opposition supporters. He questioned the Election Commission’s handling of elections and called for greater transparency in the preparation of electoral rolls.

Congress Chief Accuses BJP And RSS Of Dividing The Country

Kharge also criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), accusing them of following an ideology that deepens divisions in society.
“As long as RSS ideology is not eliminated, there will be no peace in the country,” he claimed.

He further alleged that elections had been manipulated in several states, including West Bengal, Haryana, Bihar and Maharashtra. Referring to these allegations as “vote chori”, Kharge called for governments he claimed had been formed through electoral malpractice to be removed.

HM Amit Shah Slams Kharge’s Remark

Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticised Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over his remark about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s father during the Patna event. In a post on X, Shah accused Kharge of crossing the limits of political decorum with his statement.

Shah said Kharge had made an “indecent remark” about Modi’s father and alleged that the Congress party had repeatedly used insulting language against the Prime Minister and his family.

The Home Minister referred to past controversies over remarks about Modi, including references to his mother, the description of him as a “merchant of death” and comments about his background as a tea seller.

Targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Shah alleged that the party had increasingly relied on personal attacks instead of policy-based criticism. He also linked the party’s political difficulties to its repeated electoral defeats, claiming that it had lost public support and was also facing declining support among its own workers.

Shah further said that whenever Congress leaders made remarks against Modi or his family, voters had responded to the party through elections.

Kharge Demands Return Of Ballot Papers

Kharge stressed that there needs to be an election process that utilizes ballot papers in order to restore transparency to the process of electing candidates and bring back faith in the democracy process.

There is a need for a complete stoppage of the process of SIR as there is an obligation to protect voters’ rights and ensure proper preparation of electoral rolls.

There was an urgent call from the president of the Congress party to come out on the streets and uphold the Constitution, portraying the matter as one of democracy and electoral accountability.

The Patna event was characterized by an intense debate on PM Narendra Modi as well as harsh political criticism of the BJP, RSS and the Election Commission.
