India-born female cheetah KGP-11, aged 27 months, was found injured in the Pahargarh region of Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district and is currently undergoing treatment under close veterinary supervision, officials said.

Veterinarians detected internal haemorrhage during an initial examination, and officials said her prognosis remains guarded despite her condition being stable.

Uttam Kumar Sharma, field director of Kuno National Park in Sheopur, said the exact cause of the injury is yet to be ascertained, though it may have resulted from an accident.

“The real cause will be found out after a thorough investigation,” Sharma said.

According to park officials, the monitoring team noticed unusual movement by the cheetah during routine tracking after she strayed outside the forest area.

“The team informed officials that the cheetah was not behaving normally. Upon receiving this information, veterinarians rushed to the scene. An initial examination revealed injury marks on her body. She was immediately rescued and transported to the veterinary center in Palpur,” Sharma said.

KGP-11 is currently being treated at the Palpur veterinary centre under expert supervision, officials added.

Born inside Kuno National Park, KGP-11 was released into the wild in March 2025 as part of efforts to help her adapt to a natural environment.
