Its the onset of monsoon and so is Mumbai back in headlines, with several nearby places badly hit by heavy rains on Saturday evening. Social media is flooded with scary videos with massive distruction.

Mumbai experienced heavy monsoon rains, triggering an IMD red alert for extremely heavy rainfall, causing widespread flooding, a road cave-in in Bhandup, and the closure of Andheri and Malad subways. CM Devendra Fadnavis urged caution for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Pune, and Nashik due to predictions of storms until July 6.
Analysing the weather, the Indin meteorological department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai and its nearby districts.
Videos Show Extent of Rain-Related Disruption
Several video clips available on X revealed the effect of the rainfall that took place in various parts of Mumbai.

Video capture the dark side of destruction including big potholes, cars swimming in flood, roads blocked, people swimming in the dirty water to pass by, heavy traffic in Navi Mumbai.
In one of such scary video, heavy rain caused a cave on the road at the Sonapur area of Bhandup. Well it was learnt later that the area was near a construction site. The cave also led to a vehicle stuck in the pit, but the good news is that it reported no casualties.

The heavy rains caused a cave-in at a road in the Sonapur area of Bhandup.
As per reports, part of the road had caved in due to heavy rains and was situated near an under construction site. It was reported that a vehicle got stuck in the pit.
There were no casualties in this case.

The rain also had an impact on the important transport links in the city.
Pictures revealed that the Andheri and Malad metro railways were totally flooded due to the rainwater, which led to the closure of both the routes.
The impact of heavy rain has also reached to Thane and Palghar districts. Several waterlogged areas were witnessed in addition to cases of falling trees which interrupted the traffic movement within the region.
Traffic restoration was undertaken by emergency response teams.

It must be known that the Indian Meteriological department (IMD0 has issued ared alert in Mumbai and the nearby districts with alarming them more rain for the coming days. Additionally, the school and colleges in the nearby areas have been shut during the afternoon hours. IMD has predicted heavy rains and storms till July 6, which is why it is necessary for the authorities to be on guard and monitor the situation closely.
The constant rainfall has also affected the suburban rail services, as well as caused road blockages and traffic snarl-ups.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, an extremely heavy rainfall warning has been issued for the metropolitan area of Mumbai.
As a result of the warning, all the schools and colleges located within the metropolitan area have decided to remain shut during the afternoon hours.

CM Fadnavis Urges Caution
Following the massive destruction in the city, CM Devendra Fadnavis has issued a necessary guidelines to follow that also includes unnecessary travelling.
