Security has been intensified at prominent Shiva temples across Muzaffarnagar ahead of the first Monday of the holy month of Shravan on August 3, when thousands of devotees are expected to perform jalabhishek.
Muzaffarnagar intensified security at Shiva temples for the first Shravan Monday (Aug 3) and Kanwar Yatra, deploying specific units and measures; schools are closed Aug 3-10, and meat shops along routes shut until Aug 12.
Deputy Inspector General (Saharanpur Range) Abhishek Singh said Anti-Romeo squads have been deployed at major temples to ensure the safety of women devotees. Separate queues have been arranged for women, while anti-slip mats, barricades and additional police personnel have been deployed to manage the expected rush.
The monster DJs have started to arrive. The prescribed size of DJs is 12 feet long and 10 feet wide. Uttarakhand has started to return DJs not following the prescribed size limit. But, it is all together a different story in Uttar Pradesh.

The arrival of Kanwar pilgrims carrying Ganga water from Haridwar has gathered pace, leading authorities to further strengthen security and crowd management measures across the district. The enhanced arrangements come amid extensive preparations for the annual Kanwar Yatra.

District authorities have ordered all schools and colleges in Muzaffarnagar to remain closed from August 3 to 10 to facilitate the smooth movement of pilgrims and maintain public safety. The Kanwar Yatra, which began on July 30 with the start of the Shravan month, will conclude on August 11.
Authorities have also ordered the closure of meat shops and restaurants along Kanwar routes till August 12, while phased traffic diversions and heightened surveillance have been put in place across the district.
