Jason Sanjay, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay, has opened up about his father’s reaction to his directorial debut, Sigma, and why he does not want Vijay to be part of the film’s promotions.

Speaking about the upcoming movie at a press conference on Wednesdayt, Jason Sanjay said Vijay is looking forward to watching Sigma but will not be promoting it.

Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut, the heist comedy Sigma, won’t feature promotions involving his father, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, who is awaiting the release but whose non-involvement respects the film’s independent identity and his official duties.

My Father Vijay Won t Promote My Film Jason Sanjay Ahead of Sigma Release

“My father is waiting for the release of Sigma. My father won’t be promoting my film. I want the promotions to be about the film and not him. I don’t want it to overlap,” Jason Sanjay said.

He added that Vijay’s responsibilities as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister are another reason for keeping him away from the promotional activities.

“He’s become CM now, so he has so many responsibilities. He’s waiting to see what I’ve done and is very excited,” he said.

Jason Sanjay, who has directed Sigma, was also asked whether he plans to act in films himself. He said he would consider exploring acting after the release of his debut directorial.

The filmmaker was also asked about his reaction when Vijay became Chief Minister.

“I felt very happy. It was obviously a very happy moment for me and everyone around him,” Jason Sanjay said.

Asked what his father had given him for his first film, Jason Sanjay pointed towards the audience and Vijay’s fans.

“My father gave all of his fans to me,” he said.

Sigma is an action-adventure heist comedy that marks Jason Sanjay’s first film as a director. Sundeep Kishan plays the lead, while Faria Abdullah is the female lead.

The film follows a treasure hunter who takes on a dangerous mission involving traps, riddles and unpredictable allies. The story has been described as a high-stakes adventure built around a lone-wolf protagonist.

The cast also includes Raju Sundaram, Sampath Raj, Shiv Panditt, Anbu Thasan and Yog Japee.

S Thaman has composed the music, while Krishnan Vasant is the cinematographer. Lyca Productions, headed by Subaskaran, is backing the project. Interestingly, Lyca Productions made its debut with Kaththi, which starred Vijay.

Sigma has been shot across Chennai, Salem, Talakona and Thailand. The film also features a special song involving Sundeep Kishan and Catherine Tresa.

For Jason Sanjay, Sigma marks his first major step behind the camera, while his comments suggest that he wants the film to build its identity on its own rather than lean on his father’s popularity.
