The investigation into the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak has brought Rajasthan’s Biwal family into the spotlight, with multiple members accused of playing a key role in the scandal that has triggered outrage across the country and raised serious concerns about the integrity of one of India’s biggest entrance examinations.

The CBI arrested Biwal family members in Rajasthan over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, suspecting their involvement with Haryana’s Yash Yadav in circulating leaked papers following suspicious high scores by family members in NEET 2025.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested three members of the family, including Dinesh Biwal, his elder brother Mangilal Biwal and Mangilal’s son Vikas Biwal. Investigators believe the family was linked to the circulation of leaked NEET question papers among students in Rajasthan’s Sikar district.

Suspicion Grew After Multiple Family Members Cleared NEET

According to investigators, suspicion intensified after five members of the Biwal family reportedly cleared NEET 2025 and secured admission to government medical colleges despite having average academic records earlier.

Officials said the students had performed poorly in NEET 2024 and did not show exceptional results in school examinations or coaching institutes. However, their scores in NEET 2025 were unusually high, which later prompted scrutiny from investigators.

“It is very unusual that five people from the same family got admission to some good government medical colleges together by clearing NEET last year. But they all failed to secure sufficient marks in NEET-2024. There is also a huge difference between their performance in NEET-2025 and results in schools, coaching centres, or current colleges. It raises suspicion whether they sourced the question paper from Yash Yadav in 2025 too to qualify in the exam. CBI is now probing the matter,” a senior official from the Special Operations Group (SOG) said earlier.

Investigators are now probing whether the family may have used leaked question papers not just in 2026, but also during the previous year’s examination cycle.

Dinesh Biwal’s Son Failed Despite Allegedly Having The Paper

In one of the most startling developments in the case, investigators suspect that Dinesh Biwal had arranged the leaked paper for his own son Rishi Biwal, who appeared for NEET-UG 2026 on May 3.

Despite allegedly having access to the paper before the exam, Rishi reportedly scored just 107 out of 720 marks. His academic history also reflected weak performance, with reports stating that he scored only 43.6 per cent in his Class 10 board examinations.

Investigators believe Dinesh allegedly purchased the leaked “guess paper” containing 120 questions from Haryana-based Yash Yadav for ₹15 lakh. The paper was then allegedly circulated among other students in Sikar for much higher amounts.

The probe has also widened after Rishi and his cousin Aman went missing. Aman had reportedly cleared the NEET examination last year. Officials suspect both may have knowledge related to the alleged paper leak network.

“We are searching for them,” an SOG officer said.

CBI Examining Alleged Leak Network Across Rajasthan And Haryana

According to the CBI, Vikas Biwal disclosed during questioning that he came in contact with Yash Yadav while attending NEET coaching classes in Sikar.

“During the NEET coaching at Sikar, Rajasthan, he came in contact with Yash Yadav who alleged claimed that he can arrange leaked NEET (UG) 2026 question paper for money,” the agency informed a Delhi court.

Investigators suspect Dinesh Biwal scanned the hard copy of the leaked paper before distributing it digitally to students. Officials believe the papers were sourced from Gurugram-based Yash Yadav and later sold in Rajasthan.

The family allegedly bought the leaked paper for ₹15 lakh and sold it onward to students for nearly ₹30 lakh.

Nationwide Anger Over NEET Leak Continues

The alleged NEET paper leak has sparked protests and political debate across the country, with student organisations demanding accountability and stricter safeguards in competitive examinations.

Students from Krantikari Yuva Sangathan (KYS) and AIDSO recently staged demonstrations at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi against the alleged irregularities in NEET-UG 2026.

As the investigation continues, agencies are now examining whether a larger organised network was involved in leaking and distributing question papers to aspirants across states.
