Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury on Tuesday took aim at the Centre after videos surfaced showing water leaking inside the new Parliament building and waterlogging on the premises, following heavy rainfall in the national capital.
In a post on X, Chowdhury said, “New Parliament of New India – Requires boats not votes.”
Heavy rains caused waterlogging across Delhi and Gurugram, impacting the new Parliament building and leading Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury and others to criticize governance responses to the deluge.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded rainfall between 7 cm and 11 cm in parts of Delhi on Tuesday. Waterlogging was reported at several locations, including the AIIMS flyover loop, Bhikaji Cama Place, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, RK Puram Sector 1, and Shanti Path. Traffic movement was affected in multiple areas.
The IMD has forecast a cloudy sky for Wednesday, with very light to light rain expected at isolated places during the morning and afternoon.

On Monday, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj criticised the Delhi government, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, over waterlogging in the city. Sharing visuals from Sadar Bazar, he said shops had been flooded and goods damaged. He alleged that the government’s claims about cleaning drains had not translated into results.
Separately, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala criticised the Haryana government and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini over waterlogging and traffic congestion in Gurugram following the rainfall.
No official response from the Centre or the Delhi government was available at the time of filing.
