The initiative aims to create tens of thousands of jobs and propel Odisha towards a $500 billion economy, strengthening the state’s manufacturing hub status in eastern India.

Addressing the event, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi outlined the state’s ambition to emerge as eastern India’s leading manufacturing hub and build a $500 billion economy over the next decade. The projects are expected to strengthen Odisha’s industrial ecosystem, attract further investment and encourage the growth of ancillary industries. Investments across diverse sectors are also intended to broaden the state’s economic base and create opportunities beyond traditional industries.

Industrial Development to Cover 14 Districts

With projects spread across 14 districts, the initiative aims to extend industrial development across the state and strengthen regional economies. The investments are expected to create opportunities for young people, skilled workers and local businesses. The projects cover a range of industries, from steel and petrochemicals to renewable energy, textiles, food processing and technology. This sectoral diversity is expected to support manufacturing capacity and expand employment opportunities.

Focus on Investment and Employment Generation

The launch of the 46 projects marks a push to translate investment proposals into industrial activity and jobs. Their successful implementation will be important for expanding production capacity, strengthening supply chains and generating direct and indirect employment. The initiative is also aligned with Odisha’s long-term economic ambitions, with the state seeking to attract further investment and establish itself as a major manufacturing destination in eastern India.
