The Bharatiya Janata Party is preparing for a massive oath-taking ceremony in Assam after securing a third consecutive term in the state assembly elections. The new BJP government, along with its ministers, will take oath at Khanapara in Guwahati on May 12 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several senior National Democratic Alliance leaders.

Assam’s BJP-led NDA, winning 102 seats for a third consecutive term, holds its oath ceremony on May 12 in Guwahati’s Khanapara, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NDA leaders attending, expecting over 100,000 guests.

State BJP president Dilip Saikia said preparations are being carried out on a large scale as party workers and supporters celebrate the alliance’s strong victory in the state.

Massive Gathering Expected At Khanapara Ceremony

According to Saikia, the swearing-in ceremony will begin at 11 am on May 12 at Khanapara in Guwahati. The Prime Minister will attend the event as the chief guest.

“The ceremony will happen at 11 am on May 12. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest along with Amit Shah, Nitin Nabin, and chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-ruled states will be in attendance,” Saikia said on Thursday.

He added that several Union ministers, senior BJP leaders and well-known personalities from different sectors across Assam are also expected to attend the event. More than one lakh people are likely to be present during the ceremony.

BJP-Led NDA Crosses 100-Seat Mark In Assam

The BJP-led NDA registered a dominant victory in the Assam Assembly elections, continuing its winning streak in the state for the third term in a row.

The BJP alone secured 82 seats in the 126-member assembly, comfortably crossing the majority mark. Its alliance partners, Asom Gana Parishad and Bodoland Peoples Front, won 10 seats each, taking the NDA tally to 102 seats.

On the opposition side, the Indian National Congress managed to win 19 seats, while its ally Raijor Dal secured two seats. The All India United Democratic Front and All India Trinamool Congress, which contested separately, won two and one seats respectively.

PM Modi To Arrive In Guwahati Before Ceremony

Saikia also shared details of the Prime Minister’s schedule for the day of the event.

“He said that the PM will arrive at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati at 10:15 am, following which he will reach the venue at Khanapara to be part of the oath-taking ceremony.”

The BJP leader said the atmosphere among party workers remains energetic following the election results.

“Following our historic win, BJP workers and members of the public are very excited to be part of this event, for which we are carrying out preparations in all earnest,” said Saikia.

BJP Promises To Continue Development Push

The Assam BJP leadership said the new government will continue the development projects started during the previous two terms and focus on fulfilling fresh promises made during the election campaign.

“Our new government will carry forward the development work undertaken by the two previous governments and will fulfil all the promises made to the people this time,” said Saikia.
